Introduction: I treat my clients with the utmost respect they deserve. I don't just give a massage and send the client on their way, I give homework! That's right, I teach my clients how to do self massage and how to stretch when they aren't able to get a regular massage. My clients also, aren't just clients, we grow to know one another and some have become close friends. I'll be honest! I love that I can set my own hours and still have time to be with my family. I can tell you that when a client comes in with an issue (I like to say, "issues in their tissues!"), and they leave my office feeling way better than when they first arrived, and they are ecstatic about how awesome they feel, that in itself, is really what I love most about my work. I don't consider it "a job", because I love what I do. A "job" is a task that "has to get done" in order to get paid. "Work" is an activity or physical effort done in order to "achieve a purpose or result." (Feeling awesome is a result)

I really want to start this review off by stating Im a pretty straightforward person and I rarely write reviews. Im a workhard/playhard type of person and stay as physically active as possible giving 110% effort in all 5 areas of life. That being said it takes quite a bit of effort to form a lasting impression or simply "WOW" me as I often find myself criticing even my own flaws! This is where Norma Pakulski, owner of "Professional Massage by Norma" comes into play. I have been receiving body massages off and on for the last 5 years or so. The main focus of my needs were targeted towards my back and shoulders due to excessivly tight, rigid muscles. I must be very clear that im tall (6'6") and exercise on a fairly regular basis, anyone near my height can surely identify with the nagging, aching and overall tightness that results when exercising those Long Lateral fibers and shoulders. Now, everything began on a tuesday (July 23rd) with that all to familiar ache as I started my day which only became worse when I remembered my former Massuse had retired and moved. Apparently God himself felt the need to interveen because after searching local sites I left a brief description of my ailiment on a "Contact a Masseuse" and later that evening I recieved a call from Norma. My initial impression over the telephone was that of complete confidence that she was a trained and knowledgeable in her proffesion. I will however admit that I was skeptical she had the ability to endure the task in front of her, or truly realized the effort it would require but having such a strong desire to alieviate my aches scheduled an appointment. Norma was extremely accomodating with fitting me in very soon and had a very empathetic understanding of my needs and definitely left me feeling very satisfied post phone interview and appointment setting. I arrived 10 minutes late to my appointment due to a drawbridge delay but found Norma patiently waiting in a very Professional, Clean and well organized Suite which instantly had me feeling completely relaxed. I quickly filled out a form and found myself extremely relaxed simply because she radiated a very welcoming and inviting bedside manner type of attitude. The session began with the plan to give my upper body a very thorough upperbody deeep tissue massage to loosen and relax my steel like muscle knots. From the moment she began my massage I immediately found myself impressed with her "OBVIOUS EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE". Norma put more effort and care into even the most minutiae detail of every muscle fiber as a Mother nusering a sick child would. Remember, im the person who is hard to impress, well she impressed me and continued doing so at every technique she had at her disposal. I was at the point now where my muscles were almost completely relaxed. In my initial conversation with Norma I expressed I have not once ever achieved relief beside an ashiastu style massage and trust me when I say I never before had a Massuse give me that degree of relief unless it was fullweight pressure. I was beyond impressed with her maticulous attention to detail which only increased my confidence in her to the highest level. She asked how I felt and I responded amazingly surprised at my relief. She obviously accepts nothing less than perfection, sensing more could be done she used her weight to strategically crack areas of my back that still werent 100% (it was actually humurous as she used her petite frame compared to my size I thought it would be impossible) and continued with her same energy level she began with. I heard and felt that crack I desperatly needed which was followed by another and another and I simply melted into the bench. This session was scheduled for an hour but because I was 10 minutes late and discussing her procedural plan it ended up a little more and she still asked for her original qoute. As I put my shirt on and moved my neck and back and arms I felt amazing and also thought she was getting her $ one way or another so I simply gave her the qouted price plus a 50% tip. Call it pure luck I found such an amazing, talented and maticulous Massuse, all I know is I would continue going to her even if my former Massuse whom I viewed as simply irreplacable were to unretire! I can't think of one thing she could have done better and will without question wait weeks on a waiting list if need be just knowing the relief and pure heaven that awaits me. Now remember, i'm that guy that holds myself to high standards as I detailed so purposely in the begging and I'm impressed above and beyond and everway between. I wrote this review not because I enjoy taking time out of my schedule to waste it, but because Norma is like one of those undiscovered jewels that needs her name and bussiness played into a SuperBowl commercial! I certainly know I found my eternal Massuse. Norma's simply a person that comes along once in a lifetime, weather by referal or pure chance, but I don't care what the reason is i'm sold and If anyone who reads this doesn't make it a priority to see for yourself, well it's truly your lose! Norma responded within 24 hours to my inquiry on Thumbtack. She called me to talk about the type of massage I was seeking and what I hoped to gain. Within two days I was at my first appointment. I am a 71-year old female in good health. I had previously had four deep-tissue, full-body, therapeutic massages while visiting my sisters, of a similar age, in Florida. Bi monthly massages are valued by them and they recommended finding a licensed therapist when I arrived back home to Michigan. Norma spent over an hour during my first massage ......very rewarding! I have already scheduled a second massage this month. I look forward to continuing to work out the kinks of aging and treating myself well for the next 30 years!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Deep tissue massage 60 minutes sessions are $55. Stretching the body for flexibility is combined with therapeutic deep tissue massage to deliver positive end results. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Finding out their history, having them fill out an initial history form, assessing their structure and tailoring their massage.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
2004 graduate of Lakewood School of Therapeutic Massage. Over 2000 hours of massage logged since graduation. Other certificates: Shiatsu, Reflexology, Cranial Sacral, Polarity Therapy, and Thai massage, Hot Stone, Trigger Point Therapy. Continuing education courses planned.
