Karl has preformed several restoration projects on my 1929 English Tutor house. The house was built as the home for a local architect with all exterior woodwork originally stained and varnished. A previous owner painted much of the woodwork compromising the authenticity and aesthetic appeal of the structure. As an architectural historian and curator of American art theses alterations to the original character of the house were extremely unsettling. Karl replaced damaged timbers and stucco panels on all four façades of the house. His carving and attention to detail were excellent. Further he strove to provide an historically correct approach to all architectural elements, resulting in returning the appearance of the house to the architect's origianl intent. This coming spring I plan to have Karl address additional projects, which will require, carved timbers, stucco panels and masonry work. He and his staff are very professional, extremly neat and timely. I would not have the slightest reservation recomending Karl for any challanging, aesthetically sensitive projects.

My issue was problems with the flashing around my chimney therefore, leaking in to my family room. Both the roof outside and drywall on ceiling in family room needed repair. Very personable, professional and listened to my needs as a customer. Knowledgable in his work and work was done as promised. Explained what repairs needed to be done and was able to give me a price at the time he evaluated the problem. He was there when promised. If he was not able to be right on time, he always called. The work was done as promised and was very professionally done. I would and have recommended Karl Miller to my friends and would absolutely use him in the future. Debbie Livonia

Karl re-did my bathroom remodel after the first contractor didn't do a good job. He replaced my tub with a walk in shower, installed a tile baseboard and replaced the traditional door to the bathroom with a sliding barn door. I am tremendously satisfied with all of the work done. The tile work is extremely neat and professionally done. Karl arrived on time every morning, did exactly what he quoted to do unless I asked for something different which he complied with to ensure he was meeting my expectations. I have great pics to post of his work but I'm not sure how to do that on this site. I would highly recommend him. I had not chosen a glass shower door when he did my remodel but I will definitely contact him to install the door once I select one. Awesome work!!

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated from the Detroit Carpenters Apprenticeship and recieved my Journeyman's Certificate in 2009

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I didn't want to go to college and couldn't imagine working a desk job so I went through trade school and began working with my hands.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Do some research on the work to be done and then ask a few questions to the contractor, see if he knows what he is talking about. Look for examples of his work, the work can speak for itself. References are always good too.
