- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I always say beware of someone that asks you what your budget is up front. When I first started in this business, I had other web developers calling me with complaints. What they were doing was charging customers the top part of their budget no matter what. They would essentially create identical sites for 2 customers, but one could be 3x the price (if they had a higher budget). I don't believe in that... if I take my car to the shop for new brakes, I want to know how much it will cost, not how much I can afford to pay. I also steer people away from maintenance agreements. That's a way for several designers to earn their "bread & butter" without doing any work. If you would like changes to your site, I can make them and charge accordingly. No need to pay for services every month that you might not be using!
