We booked Michael Jay for our October 1st wedding earlier this year (March-ish) and he was amazing every step of the way. He was easily reachable by all communications and made the planning process stress free. Not only did he cook for us but he also helped supply us with party insurance, tables, linens, chairs, etc. His staff also helped my parents set up for the wedding. We had a venue that did not have a kitchen and most other caterers were going to cook off site and bring our food in hot boxes. Michael brought everything he needed to cook on site for us (stoves, grills, etc) so everything was fresh! Everyone loved our taco bar, slider bar, and Asian noodle bar. I would recommend Michael to anyone :)

There isn't enough time/space to express how wonderful an experience I had with Darlene & Aja @ Oceanique Catering. My original caterer cancelled on me 2 days prior to my annual Christmas Party & even though Darlene wasn't planning on catering Christmas Day, she did it for me! I ordered a traditional Polish menu for 40 guests & wanted extra for everyone to take plates home & Darlene made a feast! Absolutely EVERYONE loved her cooking...her set-up was breathtaking (she even brought decorations) & she cleared/cleaned everything up as promised. Oceanique will truly be the ONLY caterer I use & not just because the food was loved by all but because Darlene is a beautiful person with a heart of gold. She could've charged me extra for only having 2 days notice (like other caterers have) but she didn't...in fact, her prices were very reasonable. Her & Aja were down-to-earth & easy to deal with. Graduation Party August 2016 No matter what your next event is, Chef Cathy is the right personal Chef for the job! If you want delicious, memorable, and fun – Chef Cathy is who you want to call. I haven’t known Chef Cathy very long, but I have watched and enjoyed the many samples she has brought into our Networking group. I have heard directly from people that used her for smaller events and were so very pleased they did. From the moment we started talking about using her for my daughters’ graduation party, I was confident she was a good choice. Then, she brought samples to our house one evening, which mind you was like having samples from a fancy restaurant right in your home! The samples were outstanding and made the menu decisions even easier. She fed this family of 4 very well that night, and from that point on I knew Cathy Ferrara and Supper Made Simple was the perfect selection for our event. The best part of hiring a caterer is not having to prepare the food. The even better part of hiring Chef Cathy and her team is, not having to do anything at all, except to relax and talk with all the guests at the party. And that’s exactly what we got to do! The big day came, Chef Cathy and her team showed up and we, not only enjoyed great food, but really got to spend time with all of our guests! That would have been impossible if we were serving the food, especially since there was over 100 guests at the party. You know something is successful when virtually every guest tells you that the “food is great” without you even bringing up the topic. That really did happen; we honestly heard it the whole evening. Nicole’s hands-on cooking classes are an experience in technique, food prep, deliciousness, togetherness and fun. We walked into a clean and organized kitchen set up with stations, the wine uncorked and ready to pour. Nicole’s a natural at making people feel welcome, comfortable and engaged. She knows her stuff and has an uncanny ability to meet people where they are. When planning our wedding at The Redford Theatre, we were looking for a local catering company to help us out. Joe's Produce is within walking distance of us. We scheduled an appointment and spoke to Laura who reviewed all of our options. We liked the variety of options that they had for food as well as being able to choose our options for beer, cider, and wine. I will say that Laura probably needs an assistant because she is a very busy person, but the day of the event she handled everything very well. Our guests very much enjoyed the event. Additionally, she saved us some appetizers, to make sure we had some food to eat as we were very busy at our strolling reception. I would recommend Joe's for any occasion as they also helped with some high top tables that we used at the receptions too.

    How much does it cost to hire a caterer?

    Catering prices depend mainly on how fancy you want the food and service to be and how many guests you’ll have. When you’re first looking to hire a caterer for your event, consider how many guests you’ll have and your total food and drink budget. The national average for event catering is $340, but catering prices can range into the thousands depending on your menu, guest count, and service.

    Event catering is a broad term that covers everything from fully prepared, ready-to-eat food that the hosts plate and serve themselves to full-service, multicourse meals, including rental of linens, glassware and other items, with service staff organized by the catering company. Usually a caterer will determine cost based on the type of event you’re having, how many guests will attend, the level of service you desire, and what type of menu you’d like to have. For example, if you have a set catering budget, say $1,500, and you plan to have 50 people attend, that means you have $30 per person for food. If you have the same budget with 100 people, you have $15 per person for food. In this way, the number of people you want to attend your event and the level of food you want to serve them determines how much catering will cost.

    • Service: Buffet, family style, plated dinners — how you serve the food affects the cost per person. For example, a true plated meal can cost about twice the price of a staff-assisted buffet because of staffing costs. Hiring waiters, bartenders and cleanup crew will all be calculated into the per-person catering price.
    • Drinks: Providing beverages and alcoholic drinks for guests greatly increases your catering budget. Hosting an open bar can cost as much per person as the meal.
    • Rentals: Seating, plates, glassware, etc., will all have an effect on the cost per person for catering. For example, a plastic conference table that seats 10 costs about $6 to rent on average, while a wooden farmhouse table is about $80 to rent on average.
