5 years ago, weighing in at 378lbs, and a lack of motivation/ determination to do anything I decided to take my life back. The one constant thing in all this has been my personal trainer/ life coach Pete Haugabook. His unique meal plans, unmatched knowledge to weight lifting/ nutrition, and his ability to motivate makes him the best at what he does. To me, he’s not a trainer, he’s a friend. His meal plans won’t break the bank, and are extremely manageable. With his help, I have lost over 100lbs and have made fitness not only a routine, but a way of life.. Pete literally saved my life, and for that, I will always be grateful!

Gus is an excellent trainer and coach. He is very knowledgeable about the body, detailed in explanations, fun and professional. Workout plan is taylored to your specific needs according to your goals. Your time with him is not divided with another client but you have his full attention during your scheduled time. He is easy to contact outside of training should you have any questions. I have been training with Gus for 2 weeks and have noticed a change in my stamina, strength and body. I leave every workout tired but pumped and ready for the next appointment!!

Connie has been a terrific coach. I've been working out with her consistently twice a week since June 2, 2017. She is completely reliable and punctual. Also always friendly and upbeat without being intrusive. She is supportive, nonjudgmental, and responsive to my physical status. She is eager to provide the specific type of training and any particular accommodations that I may need. In terms of the training itself, she has a huge repertoire and is always mixing it up to keep things fresh and keep my muscles working their hardest. Her knowledge is impressive. I recommend her most highly!

Wendy was instrumental in preparing me for interviews for an executive management position. She is patient, a great listener and has a keen sense to lock in on my strengths and weaknesses in terms of how I was presenting myself in the interview process. Although I was very qualified for the positions, I needed to effectively demonstrate that to my interviewers. As soon as I understood how to best present myself, I was more focused, confident and at ease during my interviews. Wendy knew exactly what I needed to do "my homework" on so I was very prepared. In the upcoming interviews for 2 different companies, the results spoke for themselves. I had immediate responses for follow up interviews with both organizations and ultimately had to choose which one to go with as both made me offers! Working with Wendy was a very different experience for me as a seasoned professional as I had never been "coached" for interviewing before. But I learned so much more about myself through working with Wendy and I'm so grateful for making that investment with her.

Lynda has coached me over the past year with issues relating to my separation and eventual divorce from my husband. What impressed me the most regarding the coaching was that, through Lynd'a's coaching, I was able to determine what it was I believed and wanted for myself. She never told me what to do (althiough at times I felt that was what a wanted) but instead helped me to discover what I already believed in myself. I never felt rushed by Lynda throughout the coaching process but instead felt that she took her time and when I was stuck on something she had the patience that I needed in order to get to the next step. I am extremely impressed with Lynda's coaching skills and would highly recommend her services.

I signed up for 24 sessions with Kathryn (Katie) and it was the best money I have ever spent on myself. We met 2x a week for 12 weeks. We started with a very basic workout to gage where I was (barely left the couch before) and over the weeks I could feel myself getting stronger and my stamina building. Katie is really great at starting you out at a comfortable level and then pushing you and coaching you to do a little bit more. She has a faith in your abilities that make YOU believe you can do it too and she is usually right. She is not a yeller or a bully but a quiet motivator who; now that my sessions are done and I am doing it on my own, is the voice in my head. The key here is that I am now on my own and she helped me do that. With her training and encouragement I have joined a Crossfit class and remember- 12 weeks earlier I could not walk a mile in 30 minutes and now I am up to running a mile in less than 19. Katie is very patient and makes sure that your form is correct and you learn injury prevention with pre and post-workout stretching and foam rolling. Overall my decision to bring Katie into my life was positive and literally life changing and again, one of the best decisions I have made in a long time.

I started working with Jon while overseas because I wanted to learn how to work out and how to hit perfect form. Through the training I completely changed my body from "normal" to "tone". I am currently working with Jon as my coach for my first physique competition. The workouts are fun because they challenge you to kepe growing. Very understanding coach and helps one work around their schedule and goals. Highly reccommend.

My 20 years of nursing experience was not enough when I needed to change career paths to become a telephonic case manager. I needed a mentor and a coach to improve my motivational interviewing skills and impress my new employer. I was fortunate to be coached by Cecilia one on one. Not only is she an expert in motivational interview, she has a talent for making things simple and easy to understand. She is a talented coach with great in depth knowledge of all of her subject matter. Her ability to find the right words is amazing, and she has a unique ability to teach you enough to feel like you can be a coach as well. Her training has really helped me to advance my career. Thank you Cecilia!

As a happily married mother of three with a very satisfying career as a statistics consultant, I am very content with my life. So, when I started life-coaching with Nasreen Meah, I thought it might be an interesting exercise, but did not expect any "life-changing" moments. Boy! Was I surprised! The first session brought up past experiences that explained many of the traits I have. I developed a better understanding of my behavior patterns and Nasreen gave me the tools I needed to challenge these patterns and become a better mother, wife and consultant. I now have a greater appreciation of who I am and my future path. Thank you Nasreen!

I started working with Patti in the midst of deeply challenging life transition and career adjustment. Patti's coaching is very effective; she provided me with specific tools to manage everyday stress, anxiety and challenges. Additionally, Patti helped me identify specific activities and actions to shift from a place of negativity and disconnect to a life filled with positive, meaningful experiences. Completion of Patti Gaves 6 month program has giving me a completely new (and bright) outlook on the future. Changes in my thought process and behavior have had an extraordinary impact on my everyday life (family, marriage, career). Working with Patti was a priceless, WONDERFUL investment! Lida is currently advising my software startup company. Since we have begun working with her, we have seen rapid improvement in our decision making and strategic execution. The best thing about working with Lida is her ability to relate to what we are going through and offer guidance that is in line with our goals. She is an excellent coach and someone who can offer sound assistance in any area of business.

            About

I offer full-service career campaign services from identifying what you have to offer the world, to putting your marketing materials together, to strategizing an effective search experience. My clients have branded me a best friend, a mom, and a drill sergeant, all wrapped up in one individual. Helene L. writes: Jane served as my career coach long before the term was invented. She genuinely cares about the success of her clients and friends, and her no-nonsense, can-do attitude motivate you to set goals, create a strategy to achieve them, overcome your inertia, and get out there and make things happen! I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a deeply knowledgeable, dedicated, well-connected resource to help them find the courage and develop the tools to explore new possibilities. And from David R: When I first contacted Coach Jane, I had just been laid off after a long tenure at a large company and when a recruiter asked me, what do you want to do? I had no answer. Well, I don't have that problem anymore. Coach Jane's guidance and support helped me to identify what it was I was looking for in a career and, more importantly, what I was looking for in an employer. Not only did Jane help me figure out what I wanted to do with my life but she also helped me discover more about who I am as a person. It got to be almost like therapy. I can honestly say that what I learned in the short time working with Coach Jane will guide me through the rest of my life. And Joe continues: I went to Coach Jane during a period of transition in my life and was spinning my wheels in making a decision to stay at my current job, look to another job, self-employment, or other options. I suffered from "paralysis from analysis" and felt overwhelmed by the changes in my personal life along with these career decisions. I first believed a career coach just helps evaluate the potential job choices, but Jane's system digs deeper and provides insight into your system of values and beliefs to determine the environment, not just the job, that is the best fit. Coach Jane's methods provided a needed period of introspection and reprieve from self-imposed pressures, and ultimately identified a conflict between my values and how success had been defined by my environment. Beyond her system, you can see Coach Jane truly cares about those she coaches.

I help people with dreams become leaders with vision. I truly believe we are all leaders; we’re leaders in our families, our communities, our social lives, our business/professional life, etc. I also believe leadership has to start from within; after all, if you can’t lead yourself, you probably aren't going to be very effective at leading others. I help people identify the gap of where they are right now and where they want to be. We then work on creating a plan of action, so you are able to create the life you deserve to be living. We have a lot of tools in our “coaching tool box,” and the most important one is the belief that coaching is about you, your needs, your results, your progress, your potential, your life, your business, and your success. Our Signature Coaching process is a great option for the client willing to invest time and effort in order to have more clarity in his/her vision and to develop a plan for his/her success. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

            What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

            What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

            • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
            • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
            • Defining your career goals
            • Creating a plan for job searching
            • Improving networking strategies and skills
            • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
            • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
            • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

            Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

            • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
            • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
            • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
            • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
            • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
            • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
            • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

A career coach provides one-on-one sessions to help you reach your career goals or overcome any challenges you’re having in your career path. The cost to have career coaching can vary based on factors such as the number of sessions you purchase at one time and the experience and rates of your counselor. Career counselors are typically professionals who have earned at least a master’s degree in their field. Based on their academic background, supplemental certifications they have received, and any postdoctoral work they have done, their rates may vary. Typically career counselors offer reduced rates when you sign on for their services on an ongoing basis. A typical price range for career counseling services (nationally) could be $75-$150 per session. Remember to always ask if the career counselor offers a complimentary introductory session. You want to make sure the relationship will be the right personality and counseling style fit to help launch your confidence and upcoming career changes.
