I have submitted a review, but excellent all around, took the time and love to treat my baby right. And the piano is 116 years old and hadn't seen an expert in quite some time so that is saying something. Efficient polite and courteous, I can't say enough.Dec 12, 2017Verified
David was EXACTLY on time for our appointment. He was very professional and tuned my piano, as well as explained some history about the instrument. He gave a short impromptu recital at the end to show how well the piano sounded. I would highly recommend his service.May 16, 2018Verified
Did a good job tuning.May 16, 2017Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My rate is based upon my 20 years experience as a dealer technician & private tuner. I feel my fee is worth the extra time and attention I will give the piano, depending on the needs and desires of the owner. Like everything else, you get what you pay for. Some techs are cheaper then I am, and some are more expensive. I have found a common area that is affordable for everyone, yet provides a professional lasting relationship that makes people feel they're getting a good service without questioning if the price dictates the quality of service. I do give discounts for annual and bi-annual tunings. The price I will quote is usually for new customers where I haven't seen the piano. But know, in the future as we schedule more services, the price gets discounted.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I definitely like to see the piano before I can quote. Although, 80% of the pianos I tune are within reasonable quality that my basic price is good enough without seeing the piano. If you send pictures, that would better my chances of knowing about it and giving a better quote. With new customers, I like to talk about the piano, it's history, my overall impressions of it, how to maintain and care for it, and I will always give every piano a thorough examination as part of the "Full Service Tuning", which would include any minor repairs, such as keys, hammers & pedals.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I worked fully as a dealer technician where I apprenticed with 4 full-time techs for 2 years. And eventually taking a full-time job as a technician with Evola Music, where I worked to maintain, rebuild, repair & prep new and used pianos for 14 years. I am a fully registered technician for 15 years with the Piano Technicians Guild. My profile is listed on their website. I believe in continued education, through seminars, conventions, regional classes & specialty services offered by various professionals around the US. I attend one or more classes every year, usually a week long. Classes that include: Tuning stability, Minor & Major repairs, Rebuilding, Field service, customer relations, business growth, and more. I am also a Cerified PianoDisc technician and installer. For work on digital player systems, I trained in Sacramento, CA and gained my certification through Burrett Music/Mason & Hamlin.
