My husband and I have had been in business for close to 10 years now. Since the start of our business, we have had more bookkeepers than I can count because of this we never really had a handle on what was happening financially in our business (I don't do numbers, I raise kids). We hesitated to pay ourselves, hesitated to hire employees, and dreaded paying vendors each month in fear that we would put our checking account into the negative. We considered shutting down the business so many times because we had no idea where we stood financially and always felt trapped. In 2017 we were referred to Melody and her team by a family friend. After one call with her, we decided to give her services a shot. We were leary with it all being virtual but fast forward 4 years. WE ARE THRIVING! My husband and I have taken multiple vacations, we receive income from our business each month, we've grown our employees from a staff of 5 to a staff of 23. Our profits are higher than we ever thought possible. We know exactly how much money we need to make each month thanks to the financial reports she provides. She even took the time to explain to us each report and what to take from them. And let me tell you, that was no easy task for her. But because of her and her team, we were able to continue to pay our employees half of their weekly pay when covid shut us down. That wouldn't have been possible without Melody and her team working their magic and keeping our books in line. Every question I've had she has answered within hours of asking and any question I've asked that she was not 100% sure of the answer to, she reached out to her network and got the answers we needed. Melody and her team go above and beyond for their clients. She said in the beginning that she was more concerned with helping than making a profit and she really has proven that. She is down-to-earth and will go above and beyond for clients when needed. She started as a bookkeeper and now is someone whom my husband and I consider a very good friend and business associate. I own a mobile welding company. When I first hired Melody to manage my books I hired her to catch me up on 10 months of stuff. Piles of receipts. Piles of bank statements. A huge mess of stuff and my chicken scratch. She originally said it would take her and her team about 4 months to catch me up, but they had it done in 2 and even took the time to reach out to my tax person at the time to find out where they could help me save. Since then, I have hired her to manage my books each month. My books are always current. I have consistent methods for estimating jobs and invoicing. I don’t worry about how I am going to receive or show payments from customers. I know exactly what material I have on hand. The best thing for me. I am making an income and I don’t worry about my books because I know I have someone reliable behind me. It wasn’t her job to help me get my business operations in order, but she did that plus her duties as my bookkeeper. We don’t talk a lot but anytime I reach out to her she responds within hours if not minutes. Life before MG was stressful. Now I just focus on what I love and let her work her magic. Couldn’t be more grateful.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    Each job is priced differently. Payment is due before any services are done. No exceptions. We have a policy for "unhappy" customers if need be, but it's yet to be needed. *knocking on wood* We don't charge by the hour, we charge by the job. When you make the smart decision to have us handle your books through out the year, our rates are re-evaluated every 3 months for the first year. We only increase our rates when you're profit increases (which we have a track record of doing just that 😁). If you're losing your tush, we're not going to stress you out more. We're going to stick with you and help in anyway we can.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    Every customer is different. But no matter the customer, we need the most involvement from you during our on boarding process. Once we collect what info we need from you, we can speak once a month, 3 times a month, once a year at tax time. Or not at all... Really up to you and your needs.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

    I was a waitress at Steak N Shake when I was 15. The manager at the time HATED ordering our stock, hated payroll, the daily reports, etc... so I took over (secretly thoigh, I was 15...) those duties then lead me to be a finance and training auditor for the entire state of Michigan. Later got my associates and bachelor degree in double majors of accounting and business management. Since then I've primarily worked in construction and real estate but my team consists of bookkeepers that specialize in every industry.
