I am in my late fifties and bought my first guitar in May of '08, never having played guitar. Self-taught, in ten months I learned fifteen chords, all below the fifth fret, and none of them barred. My dream was to learn rock guitar, something I had always wanted to do. Because of my age, I knew I was time-limited, and wanted to focus only on the songs I knew from my early years. By happen-stance I found Mr. O'Malley, and this week will have completed one full year of study with him. My lessons are one hour sessions weekly. It has been nothing short of an inspiring experience, and if I would compare it to anything, it would be like having someone teach the illiterate to read or the deaf to hear. I can now play barred chords without difficulty, up and down the neck. I have learned strum patterns, and how to read notes for these patterns. We do power chords as well. I can now read tab without difficulty. Bends, slides, hammer-ons, pull-offs, chord progressions, E and A Major pentatonics, and more, are part of every lesson. I am now learning how to solo. He has taught me how to set up my guitar, set up pedals, amplifiers, and which effects to use for which songs. My playlist includes AC/DC (many), Led Zep, Pink Floyd, RHCP, Nickelback, Boston, Clapton, Eagles, Black Sabbath, and Alice in Chains, just to name a few. Currently I am learning some killer blues licks. Six months ago I started bass, and have had 8 or so lessons on this. The bass has helped my guitar playing and vice-versa. I would rate my abilities as very, very average - but I can still cut through a lot of material. None of this would have been possible without Mr. O'Malley. My first lesson he asked ME what I would like to do with guitar. He is extremely patient, encouraging, and an all-around wonderful teacher, who inspires. He is a first-class guitarist. I look forward to my sessions with him. The hour goes way too fast. My goal for this year is to improve my tab reading and picking (without looking), improve my soloing, and to do Stairway. I play a PRS singlecut '06, and a Fender P Bass '62 RI (1968). I use fender amps and an Aguilar head for the bass. Rock On!! Thanks Mike!! Jim
I have really enjoyed taking lessons from Bruce! I am still new to it (began lessons ~4 months ago) and feel that I have learned so much! I tried taking lessons about 3 years ago from another instructor, but found myself frustrated and overwhelmed. I ended up quitting after about a month. I thought that perhaps I was too old to learn an instrument (it was my 40th b-day present to myself). However, Bruce has a teaching style that is organized and logical. He listened to my motivations and goals for wanting to learn to play the guitar and guides me each week with enough to challenge, but not so much that I feel defeated. He has responded to phone calls and emails within the same day and I appreciate his flexibility with lesson times and locations as well! I fully intend for my daughter to take lessons from Bruce as soon as she is old enough. I fully recommend giving Bruce a call if considering guitar lessons!!
My six year daughter has been taking piano lessons with Christian for about a month now. I am so impressed with everything he has taught her! Christian is a very talented musician, but more importantly he is a exceptional teacher!
My 7 yr old son and I have been learning from Jeff for 4 months now. I can definitely say he is very good at what he does and is also very patient with beginners like us ( 40 year old & the other 7:) He has been playing for over 20 years and so knows his stuff. He is constantly trying to find ways to help us understand and learn things more easily. I have a traveling job and have had to reschedule a few times and he has always accommodated that. I strongly recommend Jeff for lessons, no matter what you sort of guitar lessons you are looking for.
Over all Dave is a great teacher. So if you are looking to do guitar lessons at the Guitar Shop I recommend Dave
Mike is supportive and professional. He has introduced my daughter to many different types of piano music and helped her continue to love music by teaching to her strengths and not putting unnecessary pressure on her.
Jonathan is an excellent musician/performer and an excellent music instructor. He designs my guitar lessons to fits my needs as a K-5 elementary music specialist in the public schools. He is patient and kind while maintaining high expectations. I would recommend Jonathan Ehresmann to anyone looking for a high quality music lesson experience.
Mark helped our grandson with pre-algebra and was very nurturing and patient while teaching concepts. Nick really enjoyed his sessions with Mark and gained so much confidence. I believe the skills talked about carried thru in his other subjects as well. Mark is excellent!!
Olu is a fantastic guitar teacher. He plays the lead, acoustic and bass guitar extremely well and he plays several music styles. His teaching style is unique in that we practice a tune on the bass and then he accompanies me with his acoustic or lead guitar, therefore every lesson ends in a jam session
As an adult returning to piano, I wanted a teacher who was understanding of my hectic schedule. I had memories of my old piano teacher being very rigid, which made me loathe practicing and playing. This has never been the case with Abe. He is great at seeing each student where they are and challenging them accordingly. He has a wonderful sense of humor and knows how to make his students feel comfortable. I practice more than I ever did before because I love it. The world of classical music is beautiful and enormous, and Im excited to start studying.
I've been taking guitar lessons with Jack Klatt at Blackbird Music. Not only is he a great musician, he's a great teacher. Very patient and willing to tailor the lesson so that I'm getting the most out of it. As an adult picking up an instrument after a long break, he's got me back in the swing and improving immediately.
Aaron Felty tutored me in Algebra when I was having trouble keeping up in class. He was extremely knowledgable, patient and personable. The light-hearted atmosphere of our sessions allowed for me to better understand the information without creating the distraction of stress. I don't believe I would've passed the class without his help.
I teach piano lessons. I teach people how to play the piano, the theory behind music, and the different techniques needed to be successful.
I am one of the most skilled and accomplished guitarists in the country. You can see me on you tube at: scott fraser guitar.

Whether you need guitar, drums, ukulele, bass guitar, piano, or vocal lessons, Little Abundance will design a custom approach each month to assure your progress. There has never been a limit to the things we can learn about music. Music Theory alone is an abundance of information. Yet no matter how much we learn, there's little we can say to properly describe our passion for music. I can only hope to pass part of that passion on to others. The following things are what to expect as a student with Little Abundance Lessons: 1. Being treated as an individual, with unique desires and needs 2. Progress with physical and intellectual control of your instrument 3. Motivation to practice (and love practice) 4. Excitement for your next lesson

I am a professional vocalist in the Twin Cities who also has a knack for academics. I have been tutoring students in music, math, writing, and Spanish since my high school years, and my bachelor's in music, anthropology, and psychology from Macalester College has only further fueled my passion for teaching.
I have a complete recording studio I teach out of which means I can help students put together demos or work on composing and recording. I can also teach the art of using a loop pedal.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance specializing in Guitar and actively perform in and around the Twin Cities. This gives me a unique perspective on what a student should spend their time on to most effectively prepare themselves to be a functional musician.
