Higher Mark Tutors work with both of our daughters. We could not be more pleased with the quality of work with both of them. Micah has been super easy to coordinate times with and has a rapport with both girls, ages 18 & 14, that makes their time with him not only productive but also not boring (that is from the oldest!). Micah also brings to light other ways we can help the girls and is very communicative about their progress. We highly recommend them!!
I found Jon via Craigslist, but do not let that deter you. Right from the start he was timely in communicating with me, setting up a fare rate for tutoring services and always flexible with scheduling. As an individual who recognizes academia is not my area of expertise, Jon never made me feel that way. He is able to break down complex concepts to simple ideas that helped me to learn and retain information. I am very happy with the progress I have made (I got an A in my class!) and with how this tutoring experience has developed my capacities beyond the scope of the class. I am able to say this because I had 2 other tutors and did not have the academic and personal success as I did after working with Jon. I encourage you to reach out to Jon today.
Daniel is an outstanding tutor. I was impressed with him from day one. My daughter is very fussy about people, and turned down my older two kids tutor. Daniel is on time, and came prepared each time with lots of work. He tutored for the SAT exam and gave me a written feed back after every session. My daughter actually enjoyed being tutored Math, which is her weakest subject, so she is very sensitive about this, Daniel made her feel at ease and i believe that is why it went so well. I have no hesitation in recommending him as a tutor for SAT or any other subject. He will make your kid feel at ease and the feedback is great for the parent.
We had a very positive experience with Mr. Freed's tutoring service, Aside from the academic aspect, Mr. Freed offerered my son practical test taking strategies and helpful advice for his future.
Great experience on planning, class content, punctuality. She put lots of effrots to make the class special for our french visitors, taking them to a grocery store, manufacturing plant, mall so they had the chance to practice in real life events. we all were very pleased.
Maggie tutored my daughter, Katie, in high school math. It was a subject my daughter had a great deal of difficulty in. Maggie was able to make the subject relevant and engage my daughter in the learning process. Katie's grades and understanding of the subject improved during her time with Maggie. She still speaks highly of Maggie and remembers her tutoring time fondly.
Aaron Felty tutored me in Algebra when I was having trouble keeping up in class. He was extremely knowledgable, patient and personable. The light-hearted atmosphere of our sessions allowed for me to better understand the information without creating the distraction of stress. I don't believe I would've passed the class without his help.
Katy was the perfect person for our family! She helped my son Dane with his reading skills through 2nd and 3rd grade. We've worked with other tutors before but Dane is a very shy boy and doesn't like to open up much with strangers. This was not the case at all with Katy, he worked with her like she was his own mother. She got Dane all caught up with his classmates and ahead of them very quick, I couldn't believe the results!
Adam has been extremely responsive, professional and flexible.
I effectively use analogies, stories, and hands-on learning methods to help get across the learning lessons. I am patient with students, committed to their success, and have worked with diverse groups of students - adult basic education, incarcerated, English Language Learners, parents of college students, high school and junior high school students.
I am a student at Hamline University entering my junior year. I am studying chemistry and secondary education to become a high school chemistry teacher. I have had five years of experience in tutoring students ranging from third grade up to freshman in college in math, reading and science. I am able to help students without giving them the answer and make them think critically about the process they are working through. This critical thinking will be able to be applied in students' future education and occupations.
As a teacher of foreign languages, I have an excellent understanding of English grammar, spelling, and reading. I am able to teach and tutor in a systematic approach to make the learning easier.

Lots of writing experience, formal education through 1 year of graduate school at University of Iowa Playwriting Workshop; BA from University of Wisconsin at Green Bay, English and the Humanities with emphasis on Creative Writing. Last year I edited the thesis of a 2013 graduate of Hamline University, who received an MFA in Creative Nonfiction. I'm an avid reader, I love The New Yorker and am able to work especially with teens, as I love my nieces and the time we spend together at school functions, mostly performances of plays and poetry slams, also Poetry Out Loud competitions. Striving to avoid intimidation, in tutoring, I'm learning so much myself. And excited to find work that's this rewarding!
