Make Your Memory is by far the best value you will find for a videographer in the Minneapolis / St. Paul area. Nick Worpole is an incredibly talented videographer and editor and absolute professional in every sense of the word. I did all the research and met with 3 potential videographers for my June, 2017 wedding. Nick's easy-going personality and can-do attitude made him stand out, as I was well-aware I would be spending more time with him on my wedding day than almost anyone else. Not to mention I had seen his work and it was nothing short of amazing. I received so many compliments on my wedding day about what a pro Nick was. He has everything under control from ensuring he gets all the right shots, to helping my groom tie his bow tie. Additionally, he is just plain funny and fun to be around. He had multiple members of the bridal party cracking up throughout the day. I can assure you, if you hire Nick and the Make Your Memory team, you will not be disappointed.

Tom was recently our Videographer for our wedding on 9/19/15. When we first met him we told him exactly what parts we wanted in our video. We got our video back just recently. Watched it and loved it! He got in everything we asked for and more. He captured some things I didn't know he got. He such a phenomenal job! I am very pleased with the editing and I am so glad I chose Tom. My husband and I can now relive our best day. Thank you Tom!

Blake and Michael really put in the effort to capture our wedding well. They filmed everything and didn’t miss a thing! We couldn’t find any other high quality videographers as affordable as B&M in the Twin Cities.

very easy to work with and quick to respond, also very good value compared to other videographers! the reason I am doing 4/5 is because the ending of our dance got cut off by the camera, so some of our last moves are not visible. it is not a huge deal, and the video overall turned out great. he did a beautiful intro for me that included one of our wedding decorations. they also allowed me to review the video and ask for any changes. I would recommend!!

Mike did such a fantastic job as our videographer for our wedding. I ended up deciding just 2 weeks before the wedding that I had to have a videographer and used this website. He contacted me immediately and we were able to move forward with the contract within the same day. Mike came very prepared in knowing exactly what I wanted and to get all the right shots. I for sure wanted the ceremony, speeches, and first dances, and he did that plus every other detail from our wedding day. He worked very closely with our photographer which helped everything go smooth. Mike was very timely in getting us our highlight video, full feature video, and even some fun outtakes. He even sent us a link to our video as well as DVDs. Seriously everything is perfect and I know that we will cherish this video forever. If you are looking for someone who will make your day extra special, go with Mike!!

Al Maruggi is, without question, the best, most professional, videographer I have ever worked with. Al was responsible for 100% of the sound, set, lighting, videography, complex post-production editing, and FCPX and Motion 5 work for my extraordinarily complex 3-hour "light board" instructional video — and I could not be more thrilled with the outcome. He listened carefully to what my goals were, and then engineered the entire videography process, from initial conception and design, through set work, filming, editing, and post production, straight through to final product playing for me on my own computer. At every step, Al used clear and responsive communication to guide me to decisions that would lead to the highest possible quality product. "You're a well-respected author," he told me more than once. "This has got to be absolutely perfect." I contrast this with other videographers who would come to my events, do a video shoot, and hand me raw video on a thumb drive that I never knew what to do with. Never ONCE did Al leave me hanging, having to make decisions I don't feel qualified to make. He always took me to the next step I needed to make my project perfect. Now I have something that families gladly pay $199 to purchase, and I am proud of it. Whether you need instructional video, corporate video, outdoor/artsy video, or sales and commercial video, I suggest you talk to Al. If you live outside of Minnesota, I suggest you FLY here to work with him. Highest possible recommendation. Five stars. Mike is a complete professional and was so easy to work with. I approached him with an idea that I hadn't really thought all the way through, and he took off with it, producing a precious piece of history for us that I cannot wait to share with family and friends. After one day of filming with Mike, our family considers him a friend, and I would recommend him to anyone in the market for a videographer.

I had an odd request of filming my wedding, "office" styled and he delivered amazing. I now have this fun 5 minute video of friends and family that I can watch over and over again. He got my humor, and jokes. My family played along with the confessionals. He said he was never requested to do a wedding video like this but took on the challenge and delivered me my own amazing office episode staring my loved ones. Matt also captured very sentimental moments. For those of you who like traditional videos he also put together some beautiful videos together capturing dances, speeches, and good times, but if you want something different he is definitely open to new ideas! I am so glad I picked him as our videographer and would do it all over again!

Ryan and his Modern Image Film & Video Productions company have done an excellent job for us over the years. He has helped us make a number of videos for a few of our websites, and they are not only excellent, but have great staying power. The videos convey a feeling using a combination of video effects, music, content, and rhythm that helps convey a broader message to our clients. Every time that we review our website for updates, we always seem to note that our videos are still spot on and perfect - that is what a good videographer does, is make something that stands the test of time.

The video Morgan made of my son's wedding was wonderful. She really paid attention to the bride and groom's wishes, and captured so many unique and special moments. I had been wishing I could relive the day, and Morgan made it so, in just a few minutes of video. The videographers were so easy to work with, professional, and friendly. The video really exceeded our expectations, and we will cherish it.

About

Charles and Michael are owners and signature videographers of Forever Films. Each has spent much time developing their skills and appreciation for capturing the amazing experience of weddings on film forever. Together they have assembled a hand-picked team of other talented and dedicated videographers who are devoted to capturing your wedding for you, perfectly as you desire. Hire a professional: most "videographers" are shooting on old equipment. This can be very unreliable and pose a lot of problems. Also, many "videographers" are older and have been in the broadcast field for years and are doing this as a side gig. Here is the other problem: in the wedding business because most weddings are on the weekends, many people are weekend 'wedding warriors'. They do this as a side job and it shows. They are used to shooting news from 500 feet from the scene on a tripod, not the groom launching the bride into his arms on the dance floor. This style is much different. At Forever Films, we do video all day, every day. So we are professionals with a vested interest, not weekend amateurs. Say cheesy? Why are most wedding videos so cheesy? Here is a simple answer to a great question: most "videographers" shoot their video in the North American Broadcast Standard of 30 frames per second. This is also the frame rate that soap operas are shot in (now you know why soap operas are so weird feeling). The problem is this removes the cinematic feel that movies have. What’s the difference? A movie is shot on film at a rate of 24 frames per second. We mimic film cameras digitally and shoot your wedding at 24 frames per second instead of 30 frames per second. This takes all the cheese out of your wedding, and gives your film a special warm and familiar feeling. Lastly, our videos are treated as creative art pieces that cannot be replicated by anyone other than the artist, every one is unique. We at Forever Films believe in what we do and that is why we are committed to serving you. Warmly, Charles & Michael

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
