Ali from At Home Pet Care came into our home twice a day to care for our dog and two cats. She had to give medicine to the dog, feed the animals, walk the dog and bring in the mail. She left notes every day, left the kitchen quite clean and our animals were in great shape when we returned. One of the cats is pretty skittish and previous times, we have heard that the pet sitter hasn't seen much of him. Ali was able to entice Bilbo out of hiding and even pet him - I was surprised and grateful that she took the time to work at that. We are thrilled with At Home Pet Care's service and recommend them highly!

Taara did an excellent job with my long-haired chihuahua, Jax. We never used a pet sitter with him before and were quite worried he would not be very easy to watch. When we went to meet her, she was outside with her dogs. My dog is very vocal when he is scared and he did just that, but Taara just reached out, and scooped him up. She held him close and comforted him. At that moment I knew he would do fine with her. After dropping him off, she kept us informed with texts and pics of him throughout his stay. He actually made friends with an Aussie she was watching. She also had a spa day with a doggy massage and nail trim ( she asked if it was okay first). When we picked him up, he actually kissed her goodbye, on the nose, while I was holding him (that has never happened, he is very protective of us) Taara is a very caring and loving towards animals. She is very knowledgeable and I highly recommend her as a pet sitter and I definitely will use her again! 👍👍👍

Melissa was excellent. We were in quite a pinch - leaving for an international trip in just 24 hours from when I posted. She was able to swing by for a tour of the house and visit each day. Melissa/Let's Go is now our go-to pet sitter. So glad to have found her!

I have been thoroughly impressed by Paw Print Pet Sitting. Both the office staff Laura and my Pet Sitter, Shelly, have been nothing but courteous and friendly in every interaction I’ve had with them. I feel confident when I leave my furry babies in Shelly care that they will get not just essentials like water and food, but also genuine affection and play time. The fact that Paw Print Pet Sitting is insured gave me peace of mind to start working with them, but Shelly has been incredibly professional and I felt right away that she’d make a good fit. We live in Minneapolis, I really like that my Petsitter lives nearby, another neat aspect that Paw Print Pet Sitting does. The prices are very fair for the time and tasks involved, and every time I have a sit done, I get video updates along with texts as to how everything went. I know it’s a bit scary choosing someone to care for your four-footed children, but I can say I’d confidently recommend these folks to anyone in the Twin Cities area. Laura clearly puts her heart into her business, and I couldn’t be happier that I gave Paw Print Pet Sitting a chance. Looking forward to many more sits in the future!

Sally was very nice to work with and my dog Lucy enjoyed working with her too. Lucy liked to jump up a lot and Sally taught us techniques that showed results right away. She had great tips and suggestions on how to care for her. We plan to hire Sally if Lucy ever needs care while we are out of town.

Jenny is a professional pet care provider. She does an excellent job taking care of our two dogs and two cats. When we interviewed her she had a lot of questions for us about our pets, she really wanted to get to know them. We have a new puppy and Jenny wanted to know the all the verbal and non-verbal commands to help him pass level 1ASPCA training.

About

My aim is to treat your pets just like any other family member. I will treat them with love and care for them as if they were my own. My top priority is to provide TLC to your pets. I provide care in the pets' own home, as I know it can be an inconvenience to have to bring them to a kennel and have them boarded. Not to mention, pets are most comfortable in their own homes, with their toys, blankets, etc close at hand. I have spent the last three years volunteering at the Buffalo Animal Humane Society as a dog walker and have also volunteered at the Animal Humane Society's annual Walk for Animals. I've loved animals my whole life, and I would love the chance to care for your pets while you are at work or on vacation.

About

I offer dog walking, house-sitting and poo and yard cleanup service for cats and dogs. I will come up to 2x a day to service your dog or cat or replenish food and water and let out or take for a 20-minute walk.

About

I have five animals of my own, two dogs and three cats! With this experience helps me to understand the animals I care for and what they need.

About

I love animals. I have a dog of my own that loves company, a big backyard and lots of parks nearby. If you choose me to care for your furry kids, they will be loved and played out!

About

Because I have a special connection with animals and they know it. All animals love me.

About

My business is great because of my over-10-year clients who keep me coming back because I love them like they are family; they treat me like family, and my clients have always been word of mouth and has been very successful so far. I do everything, from cleaning companies to homes and cabins. I'm asked by all to paint for my clients as I paint and clean as if I live there. I also do animal care and house watching, so my clients can take the vacations with no worries, as they deserve a few times in a year. I run a music studio during the day, so I'm well-rounded and great in the customer service aspect of it all. I have a BS in science for criminal justice with minor in German and am going for my masters now. I'm opening up an online craft store now, as crafting is my new love! I also have done tons of jobs doing cleanup after the death of people's loved ones and turnovers in 1 day for new rental clients for big apartment complexes and for many owners of many homes. I've done hoarding cleanup and am educated and trained in biohazard suits and equipment. I'm hoping that I may have the pleasure to meet each and everyone of you, and you can judge for yourself any ability that I may have and if you ask for a different job, I may have done that as well; if not, I'm willing to learn and try! See you soon!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does boarding a horse cost?

Finding the right horse boarding location is a big step in a horse owner’s life. This will be the place your horse will live and where you will visit multiple times per week or even daily. The cost of horse boarding will depend on the level of service you desire, the location of the stables, and the luxury level of the property. Here are some examples of average horse boarding costs:

  • Overnight stabling: $30 per horse per night.
  • Partial boarding (owner feeds and mucks): $220 per horse per month, with a three-month commitment.
    • Administration of oral medication: $10 per dose.
    • Bandaging: $20 per event, plus cost of materials.
    • Trailering to vet if owner is unable: $25, plus $25 per hour to wait with horse.
  • Basic full boarding: $325-$350 per month per horse. Includes twice daily hay and daily stall cleaning.
    • Horse training: $20 per session.
    • Pasture turn out: $20 per session.
    • Blanketing: $1 per day/$30 per month.
    • Vet or farrier hold: $20. This means haltering the horse and standing with it as it receives treatment or shoeing.

Where can I board my horse?

You can board your horse at any barn or stable that provides horse boarding services. To find horse boarding near you, read reviews of area locations and speak with equestrian friends to find one with a solid reputation. Ideally, the location will be within a reasonable drive from your home or office. This is especially important if you are paying for partial boarding services and are responsible for feeding your horse and cleaning its stall each day. You may choose your boarding barn or stables based on the services they provide. Some offer more extensive amenities — at an added price — that reduce the amount of work you need to do to keep your horse comfortable. Consider whether you want training, blanketing, exercise and other perks in addition to standard offerings like hay and stable mucking. Your stable may have temperament requirements and proof that your horse has the proper vaccinations required by your state. This protects both your horse and the other horses in the stable. Many states require that locations offering horse boarding services have stable licenses that are renewed each year. Always be sure to enter into a clearly written boarding contract that will cover your horse and belongings in case of accident, and remember our tips for smart hiring.

What is horse boarding?

Horse boarding is like rental housing for your horse. Horse boarding is helpful for people who don’t have the space or the resources to install and maintain a stable on their property. A horse can be housed in a barn with other horses and receive the care they need. Owners can visit their horse for riding, grooming, training, etc. Horse boarding services may vary based on the company and the price. Some horse boarders may offer short-term boarding of 24 hours to several nights for people passing through an area, while most offer boarding by the month for horses whose owners live in the area. There is partial- and full-service boarding, which indicates how much of the work of feeding the horse and cleaning the stall is the responsibility of the owner rather than the boarding barn. For an added fee, horse boarding can also include grooming services, riding and training, medication administration, and more.

To find the right boarding fit for you and your horse, make a list of your top priorities. These might include immediate access to riding trails, round-the-clock supervision, or a nearby or affiliated veterinarian. Always visit the site to learn exactly where your horse will be kept and whether the barn and grounds are in good condition. Read reviews, and always practice smart hiring. It’s also critical to sign the proper legal documents that protect both you and your horse, such as boarding agreements. Above all, make sure it seems like a place your horse will be comfortable between your visits.
