My 4-year-old son has been taking piano lessons with Maisy from Pathway. Maisy is fun, flexible, and patient with younger students. At such a young age, my child has learned songs and theory following Maisy's instruction. The benefits of working with Pathway Music are having a teacher matched to your student based on readiness and in-home lessons. I would highly recommend Pathway Music, Maisy in particular, if you're looking for lessons for young children!

Alex has really provided a great learning experience for my son who takes guitar lessons from him. Unlike many music teachers that determine the music their students will learn, Alex really makes sure the students are involved in picking their music so the student stay interested and wants to learn and practice the music. I highly recommend Alex as a guitar teacher.

I have been taking lessons with Shulamit for about 4 months now, and her teaching has helped me immensely to improve. She is incredibly knowledgeable about all things music and is able to offer truly helpful insight that is rare among piano teachers. She is willing to help push me when I wish to strive for harder pieces, but also understands and helps me when I need more practice. I would highly recommend Shulamit to anyone wishing to take piano lessons.

I feel very fortunate to have found Bruce for guitar lessons for my daughter.  I had other guitar teachers before but none of them were of the quality of Bruce.  He has a well grounded lesson plan and is teaching my daughter how to properly play a guitar vs. just teaching her to play notes or chords on a page. He is very personable and professional and knows how to convey ways to improve without sounding critical.  He welcomes questions and is willing to vary the routine (adding in holiday songs or a song my daughter really wants to learn) to keep things interesting.  He is even taking the time to adjust a more complicated song my daughter wants to play to her skill level.  My daughter loves to play the guitar and I have no doubt her interest is being maintained by her lessons with Bruce.

Mike is a terrific guitar instructor. He's organized, providing easy-to-follow lesson plans and he tailors the instruction to your interests and pace. Another bonus: he's a working musician and he recently hosted an open blues jam session where his students played with his band Crooked Dice. How cool is that? We (students) got a chance play with other musicians. Isn't that what music is all about?

Mark helped our grandson with pre-algebra and was very nurturing and patient while teaching concepts. Nick really enjoyed his sessions with Mark and gained so much confidence. I believe the skills talked about carried thru in his other subjects as well. Mark is excellent!!

Michael has been working with our 21 year old special needs grandson, Matthew, for 3 hours or so a month over the past year. Matthew has had narrow interests (Disney videos) with no time for any other outside interests. Michael has been able to draw Matthew out by relating to Matthew's Disney characters through other books, stories, music and games. Matthew's focus and awareness has been expanding thanks to Michael's thoughtful engagement and interactions. Michael has helped Matthew develop the means to carry on a conversation beyond the limited "yes" and "no" stage. Michael has a gentle way of sensing and guiding an individual via his art, voice, song, books, games in teasing out more expression and personality in the "special needs" realm!

Hello! As an adult beginner seeking to learn the guitar, I can tell you several things I've discovered through experience. Things I can state with complete confidence. 1) Learning to play guitar can become overwhelming rather quickly! With all the information available on line, through books and from friends who say they can show you, it's quite easy to waste a lot of time learning stuff that really isn't productive over the long haul. Sure, you'll learn quickly at first because you're starting from zero, but once you learn the fundamentals, now what? This is where the majority of guitarists languish for years rehashing the same old stuff and never really improving. You need competent guidance! 2) Speaking of competent guidance, I've had numerous teachers who were really good guitar players but after a couple of months watching them play, you begin to wonder why YOU aren't getting much better. They're good, you're not and you're not getting much better. You're wasting precious learning time. Playing and teaching are 2 separate issues. Being able to relay information is probably more important than the ability to play when looking for a teacher. Phil can not only play but excels at explaining music concepts so they are readily accessible to students seeking knowledge. He was the first instructor I was exposed to who had a prepared, written game plan. A step by step road map to mastering the instrument that he explains patiently and intelligently. He loves both playing and teaching the guitar and it is abundantly clear when you talk to him about the subject. I have yet to have a session with him where I didn't feel that I was better after our lesson than I was before it, and that is the main reason one seeks out an instructor. So they can get better! 3) Phil treats lessons like a professional. He's never been late or surprised by my visits. He is always prepared and that's one of the things I like best. He makes me feel like I'm his only student and that MY progress is what's most important. I'm not just a time slot to fill or a check to grab and cash. No ego or showing off his skills for large chunks of the lesson. My skills and my improvement is what matters most and my entire lesson, from start to finish, is devoted to that. 4) Music theory is a bit spooky, especially for the beginning student. The problem isn't the complexity of the subject but how it's explained and mapped out. Yes it can be complex but in order to truly understand the instrument, you must understand the underlying concepts of music theory. What I liked most about my initial interview with Phil was his interest in what I was looking to accomplish. I was questioned about my goals. What did I want to accomplish. Learn music theory? Learn to read notation? Learn to just sit on the couch and play the blues or rock or pop music? A combination of some of it or all of it? He had a path for any/all of it tailored to my wants and needs. I'm thrilled with the path I chose and my progress on that path but I'm reminded by Phil that the plan can change as I grow and learn which is as it should be. Flexibility in learning means more options which also means constant learning without stagnation or hitting a wall that equates to more wasted time. If you seek professional, intelligent and skillful instruction as it relates to the guitar, I urge you to seek out Phil and discuss your musical goals with him. He has helped me both understand music as well as the instrument. It's quite a thrill to honestly believe you are improving quickly at playing the guitar. I look forward to continuing to improve with Phil's guidance and honestly feel my goals are well within reach. Both my playing as well as my understanding of music is growing daily and I eagerly anticipate what the future holds for me and my guitar journey with Phil's assistance!

My daughter takes classes with Prairie Music, and she is in her second year for a once a week lesson program. Yet she is able to play fluently almost all the song in the Suzuki book. She can also play songs she heard on TV and at church by herself without the written notes and she is only 7. The teachers are really committed to help each individual student become a great musician. They encouraged my daughter every time she is struggling with a song. The thing I liked the most is how patient the teachers are with the kids. I recommend Prairie Music to anyone who would like to learn how to play piano, flute, piccolo, violin, viola and cello.

Angela took me from zero expereince, in my 40'a no less, to singing for 5 years with Vocalessence and the Gilbert and Sullivan Light Opera Company. She understands that like any instrument the voice requires consistent and continual guided practice. I still use many of her exercises even though I have moved to Phoenix and, at 58, study with new teachers. She gave me a strong platform to continue to grow my voice and it is now close to 20 years and I credit her for helping me along this path. Thanks Angela!

Sharing from my heart, I could not have gotten a more genuine and inspirational piano teacher. Though as an elementary/middle school student I had some tough times practicing the difficult art of piano-playing, I certainly improved under her instruction, and through her patience and diligence, I now play piano for church service! She is hard-working, and certainly has a heart to see her students grow. She really knows how to get kids motivated with those prizes, and her ways of teaching are very effective and creative :) I've been under the instruction of many piano teachers--one teacher made me cry once, another my mother didn't like, and another didn't teach me that well--but I've had her as my teacher the longest, and I could say Jessica's the one I and my mother are most satisfied with. Speaking as a previous student of hers, I'd recommend her to any parent looking to grow his or her child's piano-playing with a skilled, understanding, and loving teacher.

Connie was an excellent vocal teacher. She did a great job of improving not only my vocal skills, but my confidence as a performer. More than just technique, she focused on creating a personal connection with the music that made performances more expressive and meaningful. Additionally, she was great about encouraging any other interests I had such as song choice and songwriting.

Andrew is an excellent music teacher. He is able to find the best teaching method for the individual student, allowing the student to learn and excel. It was extremely fun and enjoyable to learn guitar from Andrew. My son and I were able to play modern songs on top of the classical songs we learned, which helped with insuring we stayed on top of practicing outside of class. I would highly recommend Andrew to anyone wanting to learn guitar or trombone or any of the other countless instruments that Andrew knows how to play.
