Introduction: I teach yoga and am a wellness coach & reiki master. I have 20 years of experience. In particular if you are brand new to yoga, a private session is the best way to begin. It takes more experience in a teacher to teach a beginner - you will learn proper alignment for your individual body type and current physical ability. Your goals will be heard and incorporated into your lesson. Also great with groups for mind/body work as well as yoga asana classes. I am available very few hours, if you are serious about learning yoga correctly, it's worth your time to travel to Eden Prairie or meet me in Hopkins, MN. I look forward to meeting you! My son and I started yoga at Yoga Prairie in the fall and loved the class and the way Karen helped us as beginning students! Our schedule switched and we found it harder to get to the studio and asked Karen if she could do yoga in our house for our whole family. Karen said yes as long as you can provide a good cup of coffee, and we now have private yoga in our house twice a week for our family. Yoga Prairie is an excellent yoga studio for those who might be intimidated by how we see yoga in mass media. Yoga Prairie has been a great benefit to the well being of our whole family! We look forward to it every week and have all found benefits.Thanks Yoga Prairie!

Good Vibrations Yoga Studio is a top notch yoga studio with amazing yoga instructors! The studio and staff are very welcoming and friendly. My love of yoga has grown since I have started taking classes because of the knowledgeable teachers. I have gained strength in my body and calmness in my mind through my yoga practice at the studio. I would highly recommend this studio to anyone interested in taking yoga classes. They have a large variety of classes to choose from.

I initially attended classes at Yoga Prairie because of a Groupon (great value!). I tried the Beginner's Class and continue to attend due to the helpful focus on learning and practicing the poses correctly and without injury. I also started attending the Ashtanga classes, which I absolutely love due to the challenge and flow of the routine. I appreciate Yoga Prairie, and the owner/my teacher Karen Kinnard, because of their focus on practicing yoga in a healthy and joyful way. The teachers are very qualified and helpful, and the atmosphere is welcoming and non-competitive. I now attend three times a week and always leave with a smile on my face. Thank you, Karen and Yoga Prairie!

I was surprised at the number of classes they offer, and it isn't just yoga, they offer things that I wouldn't normally have tried, like meditation and massage.The classes are about medium in size and the Karen always attends to the needs of each person.I definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in picking up yoga or even discovering what it's all about.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    Price depends on travel, there's a minimum charge for offsite instruction. After initial lesson, or coaching session, a package discount may be available.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    I prefer meeting new customers in the yoga studio in Hopkins, but if this is not possible for you, we can discuss your needs in our initial phone interview. I will first want to speak to you about what you would like to get out of taking your yoga lessons. People come to me for various reasons: flexibility, balance, strength and rebuilding all of the above after or during chronic illness. Your physical ability will be the guiding factor in this work. For wellness coaching, our first session is all about getting to know you, your history and struggles and what you want to achieve for yourself. We'll then come up with a plan and you'll receive the support and information you need.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I have a yoga certification completed in 2002 and am an experienced yoga instructor (E-RYT) with over 10,000 hrs of teaching experience as well as a yoga teacher trainer - director of a state licensed yoga school. I have taken advanced trainings in Ashtanga Yoga, and an additional 211 training hours in teaching methods, philosophy, lifestyle, ethics, techniques and anatomy. I also have studied with a Meditation master for 18 years. Additionally, I have been working in the field of holistic health for longer than I've taught yoga. Certifications in Holistic Health Coaching, Natural Therapies and Holistic Weight Management as well as a degree in Psychology from a traditional university (University of Wisconsin, River Falls).
