Chris came at a last minutes notice when our mower stopped working. He offered me such a great price that I hired him to mow the rest of the summer!

Augusta Greens came out yesterday and then left. I was confused. I called them later and he said they needed a smaller lawn mower because my neighbor and I both have fenced gated back yards. I asked them to let me know when they would do it and no one let me know. So the four stars is for lack of communication. I was so happy to come home to a mowed yard and YES they are a good company and def use them.

Hired EGR to mow my yard after moving into my new home. They did a great job and cleaned up grass clippings. I then hired them for their annual maintenance and they do a great job and my yard always looks great! From seeding, fertilization and aeration... I always recommend these guys for yard care!

Great job transforming the hill in front of our home from dead grass and weeds to a unique landscape. The rock wall that they installed was great, and the paver patio was done right (they diverted drainage through a plastic pipe in a trench they dug so rainwater would come out down the hill from the patio). Really happy overall.

Mike did an amazing job cutting dow our 20' tree and grinding out the stump. His pricing was very competitive and he got the job done just a day after the bid. He was on time, communicated very well, and did excellent work. He even agreed to come back in a few weeks to plant the new grass seed and put down new soil once spring arrives. I would highly recommend Mike for tree service.

This spring I had Klean Lawn Services replace the sod in my front yard. They also pulled some juniper shrubs prior to sodding. Everything went great from the start. I waited to review to make sure the sod took. It looks way better than I expected. You can't tell it is a re-sodded lawn. Thanks a million Ken!

Thank you, Juan. You did it just perfect, and as you can see, lowering the blade DID NOT SCALP my grass. I guess, most of you do not know about Zoysia grass. You really made me happy. Please continue to do the same, until I think the blade needs raising, and I shall notify you, or I shall leave a note on my front door, as well as notify. If you continue like today, you shall NOT hear any complaints.

We were tired of the usual grass yard behind our house and connected with Russ Henry of Giving Tree Gardens. Russ designed a rain garden, butterfly garden and native stone walk and patio in our back yard and a rain garden on one side of our front yard. My wife's home office over looked the rear of our house and she enjoyed watching the different native plants bloom at different times over the summer and fall as well as the butterflies and bees that frequented the blooming flowers. We high recommend Russ to anyone tired of the run of the mill grass yard who wants interesting native plants instead.

Mike was great, friendly, and super communicative about arrival time! He was so thorough, and left our yard looking fantastic, going the extra mile, despite neglect on our part. He gave my husband and I bunch of recommendations to help our grass and plantings be more healthy without using chemicals. We'll definitely be calling him again!!

I contacted Mad Man Mowing to mow about 22 acres of grass in the CRP program. It was a big job whereby the grass had to be cut to CRP specificifcations using a rotary mower. Andy had to rent a mower for this project, which broke down a couple of times, but he proceeded to get the thing fixed and always kept me informed as to what was happening. Besides giving me the best price, he was always courteous and conscientous. Rita Maiser

Fair price, good work except for cleanup-left insulation in grass and sidewalk. Not sure if he knew it was there.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have your lawn mowed?

Regular lawn maintenance can do wonders for your home’s curb appeal. Professional lawn care prices will vary based on the regional cost to do business and regional cost of labor, the size of your lawn, and any additional services you may desire such as edging or mulching. The national average for lawn mowing costs is $30-$50. Pros may charge an hourly rate, a flat rate or by the square foot (an acre contains 43,560 square feet). Square footage rates factor in the professional’s time, the use of their equipment, and the gas to operate the mower. Distance may also affect cost: If you live outside the company’s standard service range, you may pay an additional travel fee. Here are some examples of average prices for mowing and lawn maintenance:

  • Up to 8,000-square-foot property: $30 per week/$120 per month.
    • Bimonthly: $40 per service/$80 per month.
    • One time only: $45 per service.
      • Prices include mowing all turf grass areas; trimming grass away from fences, structures, trees, and lawn edges; and clearing or blowing all grass trimmings from driveways, sidewalks, curbs, etc.
  • Hourly rate: $25 per hour (including travel, equipment costs and labor).
  • Lot size:
    • Smaller lots in subdivisions: $35.
    • Half-acre lot: $50.
    • One-acre lot: $100.
