I spoke with a handful of dog trainers and I felt the most connection with Shahar. So I hired her : ) We talked on the phone about the behaviors and set up our first training session. She came to our home and was very personable and professional. From our conversation on the phone, she pretty much already knew what corrective training we would work on, therefore, we didn't spend most of the time talking and got a nice portion of the time doing the actual training. It will be tough for all of us as we are about to flip our pups life upside down but Shahar assured me that he will be much happier this way. I will be working with Shahar on follow up trainings until our pups behavior issues has been corrected!
Lori is the best dog trainer that I know in Twin Cities! She is patient, and makes it fun, brings it to your home environment where the dogs are more relaxed. I also board my dog here as well. She is the cheapest, has better quality care for my dog than anyone I know. Best quality for the lowest price. She has trained my dog to be perfect! She bonds with the animals so well that they automatically listen to her, and even the most aggressive dogs aren't intimidated and will respond to her. I would recommend going to her before anyone else, you won't be disappointed. She cares about the people and the animals very much. My dog, Buddy, is a westie terrier and goes to doggy daycare here also. He gets along with everyone. Great!
Crystal has worked with all of our three Springer Spaniels. She took our puppy at 6 months and returned to us a beautifully trained, well rounded pet. She has also worked wonders with our other two dogs. Crystal love dogs and they love her! You will never find a kinder, more knowledgeable dog trainer! She is a wonderful person and a pleasure to watch her work with the dogs!
Mary has been walking, boarding, and training my dog Kaiser since he was 8 weeks old. He has turned into a well adjusted, well behaved adult in (very) large part because of her. He loves getting to spend time with her and all his other dog friends that she cares for. She also takes very good care of my cat Hobbes, and my elderly dog Ziggy before he passed. I don't know what we'd do without her!
so far so good...she is a very caring and knowledgeable dog trainer
Lindsay is an incredible dog trainer. She has turned our whole household around for the better because now we know how to interact with our puppy. We strongly recommend Lindsay Kinney from K9 Academy!
Puppy / dog training. Juli went above what most trainers would have done to help us with our dog. I would not have changed anything.
Paul arrived and explained the Bark Busters training process to us. Skeptical that it could actually make a difference on the first day, we began the work. Not sure if our dog was overly tired or if she actually was learning a more submissive roll that first day, we were amazed at the changes we were already seeing! She was a totally different dog the next day and has been since. She has been amazingly responsive to the techniques and much more behaviorally appropriate. Although we are still learning the process, we see improvements in ourselves and our dog every single day. The Bark Busters Method really does work! Paul believes in what he is teaching and it's obvious in his work with dogs. We look forward to our future sessions with him.
Kristin Elmquist has been helping me build strong relationships with my dogs for nearly 5 years. I adopted Dexter, a mixed breed dog, in 2008. Shortly after his adoption, we started pet obedience classes with Kristin at For the Love of Dogs. The classes were informative, as well as fun! Not only was she immensely helpful in teaching pet obedience, she was a resource for students in answering questions regarding nutrition and potty training. It was not uncommon to have several students waiting after class to ask her questions. I knew training to be a lifelong project for us and I wasn't going to be happy with a lap-dog. Kristin introduced us to the sport of dog agility. What fun we have with this sport! We have been successfully competing in agility trials for several years. My second dog, Tesla, came home in July of 2010. Tesla has been a challenging dog for several reasons. Kristin has been able to provide us with resources to get the help he so desperately needes at the time. Tesla and I completed the pet obedience classes, similar to Dexter. However, Tesla's life journey has taken a detour around agility. Even so, Kristin has been able to offer him a training alternative in canine nose work. These classes allow him to continue training and exploring his environment in a well-controlled, safe method. Kristin's help and expertise has allowed Tesla to be more successful than I would have ever imagined. As an instructor, Kristin is extremely knowledgeable. She continues expanding her repertoire of training methods. She is a strong proponent of positive reinforcement training. In her classes, she really wants you to understand why you are doing something. Simply saying, "Do this," isn't good enough. This knowledge allows her students to take their training and apply it to real life situations.
My Wheaten Terrier Inara started classes with Jodee when I got her at 4 months old. Jodee was able to structure training specific to Inara's needs and abilities. Inara was a very smart and exuberant puppy but easily bored. So basic training with lots of repetition did not work for her. Jodee tailored classes to allow her to do more advanced skills in her puppy classes which allowed Inara to keep learning. Making things more of a challenge, Inara was not treat motivated, so Jodee's program of praise and positive reinforcement really helped Inara learn. Inara and I enjoyed our training so much that we continued classes for 5 years. We did classes from puppy to adult, good citizenship, agility and even tricks. People would chuckle and ask isn't your dog trained yet. Of course she was! But training became a social activity for Inara and her doggie friends. As well as for all the owners. Inara would still be doing training with Jodee if she hadn't passed away from a sudden illness. I will definitely be taking my next dog to work with Jodee. She has the ability to teach young puppies that learning is fun and help owners gain the knowledge and confidence to continue working with their dogs when away from classes. Jodee has helped dogs that are rescues as well as those who have been abused become happy well adjusted family members and working animals. If you are looking for a highly skilled positive trainer for your dog or puppy be sure to contact her.
If you are looking for a professional dog trainer, you have found that person in Jim Diem. Jim was knowledgeable, professional, flexible, and compassionate in helping our family with our challenges with our shelter dog. We were unprepared for a dog with fear aggression, and upon a happenstance meeting with Jim our lives changed dramatically. Jim worked with our dog and our family to improve the quality of our dog’s life, as well as enhance our understanding of how an informed owner should behave. Jim was not the first trainer we worked with. He is the only trainer we will work with now. We are indebted to Jim and his expertise for all he has done for us. Thanks Jim! Beth Hanssens + Family
I love working with Cheryl. She's a fantastic trainer. My basset has really responding to her training methods. Will stay with her for the long haul Thanks for your kindness and patients
Ashley is incredible at what she does! She has been such a huge help to me and my pups. She has shared so many resources and lots of valuable knowledge with me. I don't know where my dogs and I would be without her! If you need a truly skilled dog trainer, nobody does it better than Ashley!
I loved working with Katie. She is very experienced and loves bully breeds which isn't always the case with dog trainers. I worked with BAT training with my leash reactive pittie and she not only trained me on what to do, she gave me tons of ideas of what to do at home (realistic scenarios). She is also very positive. No negative dog training at all. Katie also will continue class even if most people don't show up so it feels like you get a lot of one on one time. I would definitely recommend Katie as a dog trainer.
John Ketzner played a key role in the development of my dog and myself as a dog handler. John presented me with the tools and techniques necessary to be successful, then helped me perfect and tune these skills to make them work for me. John takes an individual based approach to dog training, realizing that not all dogs nor handlers are alike. His genuine care for the well-being of the animals shows in the rapport and relationships he develops while working with them.
Denise is one of the most dedicated professional trainers I have ever had the privilege of working with. She has helped me take my dog to levels I never thought were possible! I look forward to working with her in the future and seeing just how far and amazing my dog will become with her guidance and superior knowledge.
We couldn't be happier with the results of our dogs training and the care given to her while she was in for training. She is doing great with her obedience on and off the field, we have complete control. I was also very impressed with Jeffs Knowledge of training dogs; He truly has a gift and I would highly recommend him as a trainer.
Our dog, Jack, was getting into trouble at the dog park. When other dogs tried to assert dominance over him, he would overreact, resulting in us leaving the dog park in disgrace. We enrolled in Mary's "Play2Train" class to give him some immersion into basic dog obedience. We have gone through three of these classes, and Jack has shown a great deal of improvement, not only in obeying my commands, but also in dealing with other dogs. I honestly think Mary spends more time training the owners than the dogs, and that is what makes the biggest difference. Jack and I are extremely grateful to Mary!
