Introduction: I am different from other photography studios because my goal since I first started was to stay as affordable as possible while keeping the quality of my work high. I am constantly coming up with new, creative ideas for products and services. I love doing slideshows, scrapbooks, and photo collages, and those kinds of things, in addition to taking pictures. The thing I love most about my job is going through the proofs. Every portrait session is like a gift: I get to look through the pictures and find the magic that the camera captured this time.

I just wanted to take a moment to write about my wonderful experience with Mella memories. I'd have to say that having a pregnancy shoot and then having Melissa there for labor and delivery of my last child is something I can't rave about enough!! I don't know why more people WOULDN'T do it. I first researched the idea of a birthing photographer, not even knowing they existed. Man, are they expensive! I mostly noticed them in big cities though. I loved the idea and I loved the moments the photographer caught. Every husband/partner is different, but sometimes it's hard getting your husband to know what pictures to get after your baby is born. You want him for everything...to squeeze your hand and be near you, cut baby's cord, to take pictures AND to video tape! This was our last baby of 3. It was SO nice having that pressure off of us so that we could just enjoy the moment; enjoy the baby together. Melissa is quiet during your labor; quiet during the birth. You don't even know she's there. She does WONDERFUL at giving the couple their space and she entertains herself during the dull moments. Melissa edits the pictures so there are no embarrassing pictures and just makes each photo look classic and original. You also let her know ahead of time what you do or do not want photographed. One of my favorite momentos is a 'still-photo' DVD with all of my pregnancy, birthing, and newborn pictures put to music. I look forward to watching the video each year around his birthday! It is more than what you could do with only the 2 of you there. Every couple is different, and some may still like that 'moment' to theirselves, but having experienced it myself, having a photographer there is truely a gift in itself. It catches you and your partner 'in love' with each other and that new miracle the two of you just brought into this world. Something that is worth every penny paid for it! I fell in love the first time I ever held a camera. There was just something so simple and yet powerful about looking at the world through a lens and capturing something that someone else might not have even noticed.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
As a customer, you want a photographer who will take the time to get to know you, not rush you through after getting a few shots. You should find someone who cares about you and your family, and who will take the time to express your personality through pictures.
