First and foremost do a web search for "how to hire a DJ", there are a ton of guides out there. One thing that is not often mentioned though is to be sure that you and your DJ "click", you have to get along, you have to be able to work together. Ask the DJ many questions, while no DJ will be able to answer every question "correctly", you should feel comfortable with their approach.
