Introduction: Hey Everyone! My name Is Kelsey and I am the owner of Happy Tailz Dog Private In-Home Dog Training. I opened Happy Tailz in May of 2019 and I am bonded, insured and have my pet sitter certification as well as CDT! I am located in Hudson, WI but have amazing certified trainers who service the Twin Cities and Connecting Suburbs and parts of Wisconsin as well. I had Sarah as my trainer for 3 sessions with my 10 year old Scottie. He had some training when he was a puppy, but I didn’t keep it up and he forgot the majority of it. My goal for this training was to get him to stop barking and lunging at other dogs when we were out walking. He was okay with people. Sarah was extremely knowledgeable. She was able to get my dog to respond to her right away and remember the commands. And her methods made sense. I was able to see why my dog stopped barking when she did certain things and I think with enough practice I can follow her instructions. The only complaint I have about Sarah’s teaching is she went too fast. I would have benefited from more practice with her. I plan to ask for a refresher lesson in the future when I feel I’ve mastered more of the training myself.

Have worked with Sarah four times so far out of my package of six that I purchased. She’s been wonderful to work with- clear in communication, she explains why she suggests we try things, she answers my questions and at no point has she made me feel bad about the way I had previously handled my reactive dog. It definitely takes time and work to see changes but she helps by putting us into situations where we can practice. Sarah gives tips and suggestions on how to improve what we need to work on and follows up with emailed worksheets and content. I’ve already seen major changes in my dog- he is learning how to behave differently when he walks past other dogs and people. Our training with Sarah has helped him to become a more confident and relaxed pup!

We are so happy with Happy Tailz!! We had Sarah as our trainer, and she was amazing with Quake!! She went above and beyond in absolutely everything she did. Always on time, always very professional, and truly dedicated to getting our dog to where he needed to be!!! I would recommend to absolutely anyone looking for training!

We worked with Philip and we had a great experience. Our dog still has a long way to go (he has A LOT of issues) but Philip has provided us with weekly reports to help identify triggers and strategies with respect to problem behavior. This has enabled us to replicate the actions demonstrated in training with no guess work. We’ve tried group classes in the past and we had much better results with Happy Tailz. Totally worth it.

Sarah has been a great trainer so far! She has worked with us for about four weeks now and has been amazing! My dog struggled a lot with leash pulling, reactivity, and a lot of other stuff as well. Sarah was able to help him as well as teach me how to help him in these situations. After every session I learned a lot and so did he. I looked everywhere for dog trainers and I’m super happy that I went with Happy Tailz and was able to meet Sarah! I think the price is very fair, they respond very quickly and are able to be super flexible. I’m excited to continue to watch how my dog continues to grow and learn with the rest of our sessions.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am affordable and flexible. I love to stay within a 10 mile radius of my service area but I am willing to travel further. If you are a client and refer a client, you both get free 30 minute walks!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I love to set up a meet and greet with them to me their animals and also them. They we discuss what exactly we are looking for and move forward from there. If it is dog sittings, I reach out every Sunday for a week schedule. If it’s Sitting I like to schedule up to 6 months in advance. Then I communicate via email, text and newsletter.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a pet sitter certification that I passed!
