Type of work
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I have been a professional part-time and freelance proofreader for four years (with the Minneapolis-based companies Aveda and Fallon, respectively). During that time I also edited website copy and a 160-page book (Screen Printing on the Cheap: How to Print Using Your Cents by Andy McInnis) for the Minneapolis-based company Screen Printing on the Cheap, LLC. Additionally, I have been doing research for a nonfiction book I am writing (I understand the writing process and appreciate your concerns as a writer). Other clients: Seward Community Co-op, The City of Albert Lea. My strongest suit as a copy editor is in maintaining consistency. When editing a longer document, I mentally track occurrences of all its parts. Being able, paragraphs or pages later, to recall how like headings or typographical characters, for example, were previously presented, or whether the wording of a sentence here is too similar to that of one there, is trickier than just being able to fix grammar and punctuation, and it is something that sets me apart; I can save you time and money by catching inconsistencies the first time I look through any document. The hard work it takes to make written communication easy to follow is what I am interested in professionally. I am open to a wide variety of projects. Thank you for your interest.
