- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We work on fixed price contracts for almost all of our jobs we build. Repair work is typically done one a 4 hour minimum + an hourly rate after the 4 hour minimum. Our time and materials rate is $95.88 per hour for a one person crew or $187.97 for a two person crew.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For exterior projects we will come out and put a quote together on the spot based on your selections for the project. You will receive information on the warranties, color options, and any special notes regarding your project upon the site visit. During this time, you may go through any questions you have and our representative will educate you on any details pertaining to your project. If you decide to accept the proposal and move forward, we will typically put you on the schedule 1-2 weeks from proposal acceptance. Most exterior projects take 1-5 days and we focus on all the details from start to clean up so you don't have to lift a finger. For interior projects we start with a phone call to qualify our customers and make sure we're a good match for what you're looking for. After that we will set up a free consultation appointment to go over the project and put together a budget based on our discussion. If you decide to move forward, we will enter into a professional service agreement or design contract to put plans, specifications, and materials selections together. Clients may come into our showroom to select anything for their project from flooring to exterior building materials or visit one of our many suppliers showrooms around the cities. Upon completion of the design agreement, we will put together a formal contract with pricing options for the project and an estimated project schedule.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
VL Builders trains all of its field employees on an ongoing basis. We consistently work with manufacturer reps to ensure all installation standards are met or exceeded. We are lead safe certified, up to date on all of the industry training required for our licensing. In addition to that, we constantly explore better ways to do things, attend building science seminars, and visit our manufacturer's facilities to see how their products are designed and made to work together as a building assembly. All carpenters at VL Builders go through a 90 day on the job training to ensure they meet our standard of how we do things from start to finish.
