- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My base fee is $120, and that is based on the piano being maintained within the last 2 years. There is an additional fee of $50 if the piano needs a pitch raise, which means additional time is needed to bring the piano up to standard pitch of A440. This is something I can only assess when I am at the piano.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? After I arrive, I like to keep the customer in the know if there are any concerns, i.e. pitch corrections, repairs needed, structural issues, etc. so there won't be any surprises when the tuning is complete. I like to have piano owners be aware of placement of the piano in their environment to make sure, if possible to avoid problem areas where temperature and humidity changes can have an adverse effect.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have been a professional piano player for most of my life. I have a BA in music from Berklee College of Music, I was a tuning and repair apprentice with my brother, who taught me a lot of what I know, and also took classes in tuning and repair with an RPT (registered piano tuner) from St. Paul.
