Introduction: I am a passionate violin and viola teacher. As a recent graduate with my masters degree from the University of Minnesota in viola performance, I have strived for excellence in my own playing so I can deliver the best possible lessons to students of any age. With a wide range of teaching experience from students from low income households, to students on the spectrum, I work my hardest to be a nurturing teacher, creating an environment that students of all ages and abilities can thrive.

I am 28 and have never touched a violin in my life previous to my first lesson with Marissa! I have always wanted to learn how to play violin but also heard that it was difficult to learn- Marissa helped to make this amazingly beautiful instrument accessible, even for a late starter like me. She is a wonderful instructor and gives clear learning objectives and skills to practice in between lessons, and is astute with correcting form for the beginner while forming good habits. She's also a really lovely human who is patient, and passionate about sharing her love of music with her students. Also just a note, I travel a lot, and she offered continuous support and instruction over skype which I thought was so cool!
I definitely recommend Marissa as an excellent instructor, great for brand new beginners to this lovely instrument and music theory in general, learning with her has really allowed me to take away skills to practice and good habits to be aware of!
