My daughter has just had 2 lessons so far, but she really is enjoying working with Eric. I love that he is also teaching her piano skills, etc... And he has such a kind and supportive way of helping her.

About this pro

I've seen it all! From beginners who think they're "tone-deaf" to aspiring classical singers, from kindergartners to middle age and older! No matter who you are or where you're starting from, I offer singing lessons to move you forward. Nine years of teaching has taught me over and over that singing is like learning anything else: with patience and regular practice, anyone with a healthy voice and ears can learn to sing. I know how to make people good singers, with simple, no-nonsense teaching based on traditional methods, scientific understanding, and many years as a professional singer. There is so much confusion about learning to sing, and I'm passionate about clearing away the mystery, the misunderstanding, and the snobbery about singing! Singing is something you, and everyone should do. Whoever you are and whatever your goals are, I'd love to teach you plain good singing. I get paid to hear people sing! Of course, my job is to challenge them and even be picky with the way they are singing, but at the end of the day, singing is beautiful, and it's extremely rewarding to hear people's voices as they progress in training.

Q & A

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Tuition works out to $25 for each half-hour lesson, when purchased in a package of eight lessons $25 ($200). Stand-alone lessons are $30 each. I usually recommend starting with half-hour lessons, but if a student is ready to dig in, hour-long lessons are $400 for a package of eight.
  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I've had such a variety of students over the years, I've narrowed down the process to a few exercises and concepts that work very well in training good technique and a good ear. I start with simple songs and vocalizations just to get the voice going! I gradually introduce the fundamental concepts of technique that singers continue to work on over the years. If a student is unfamiliar with reading music, I also teach the basics of playing piano, and singing solfege.
  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a college degree in music, with nine years of experience as a voice teacher and professional singer.
