As a birthday gift I booked Louis to come to our home to give my husband a massage. Louis was on time, very professional and quickly but my husband at ease. After his 90 min relaxing Swedish massage my husband said that it was one of the best he received in a longtime. He would definitely recommend Louis to anyone looking for a relaxing deep tissue massage. We are looking forward to using Louis for our massage therapy needs in the future.

The first time Melissa did Reiki therapy on me I felt AMA-ZING!! The ability to channel in the energy of Reiki is a gift Melissa carries ever so eloquently. Melissa has a gift she is very passionate about, and her gift to be able to rid my aches and pains was something the traditional medicine doctors struggle with my entire life. Did she cure me? No. But she did help me get to a comfort level that I haven't been at for along time!! Melissa is very good at communicating the process of the session and is very knowledgeable about the crystals and combination of essential oils to create the best session. I will advise any person interested in or curious about Reiki to give Melissa an opportunity to share her gift with you, you will be amazed as I was!

Where do I start?? My overall experience with Trisha was extremely unique and truly came from a servant's heart! Her massage therapy sessions were so good, she knew exactly where to go, was extremely thorough, getting into spots I didn't even know existed! She used a really great, balancing mixture of deep tissue and trigger point therapy, which was intense but beyond beneficial. I had restricted range of motion in my neck and my right shoulder and by the time we were done (I got a mixture of services) I felt like A NEW PERSON! I took advantage of her 1st time client packages and the main reason I contacted her was for her health coaching strategies. As a long time food addict and pushing myself into obesity, I knew I needed to change. She helped me step-by step to switch to a plant based-gluten free diet (I have Celiac's) showed me all the supplements and whatnot to take! I lost 30 lbs in 3 wks!! She has a wealth of knowledge and is so compassionate and non-judgmental, she made me really feel like I was loved and cared for! As our time together (60 days together) came to an end, I walk away knowing more about how too care for myself in the best positive way, know more about my path and direction in life than I ever thought possible....and even found a new partner in my life!! Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that she is a magician and that by hiring her all your problems will go away; you have to WORK YOUR BUTT OFF, be willing to be committed, and give 110%!! Be willing to hold yourself accountable and more than anything... CHANGE YOUR MINDSET. For anyone reading this...if you're ready to make a change and are sick and tired of being sick and tired... Trisha is the coach for you..she will work so hard for you as long as you do the same for yourself ;) I love you Trisha and thank you for everything (even though she'd just say thanks, but, Thank yourself!!) haha :) <3

90 min deep tissue massage. Very thorough and professional. Best deep tissue massage I've received. The price is very reasonable to keep your body healthy! Very accommodating on time schedules. It's a must for everyone. I do not live in the area just here for work. First time with thumb tack and destanation massage. Excellent experience.

PazazzBodyWork is just the BEST! I have seen Walt for a few years and his massages are just amazing. I usually get a massage at least every 2-3 weeks from him if I can. It really helps me deal with my stress, tight shoulders and my sore lower back too. He does a great job and really listens to my needs as my issues have changed since I started getting massages with him . I love all of the massages that Walt offers. There are so many to choose from which is great because depending on my mood I have options. If I had to pick a favorite massage, it would probably be the Hapalomi. It is just so amazing. The warm massage oil really helps melt my tension away, and the long flowing style of the massage leaves me just mesmerized. That one is truly amazing! Walt also does mobile massages and Spa Parties. I have at least one Spa Party each year with 2 or 3 friends and they always enjoy the pampering experience that Walt provides. The mobile massage experience is also wonderful. I typically do a couple of these each year as well, especially in winter. In winter I sometimes like to have my massage by the fireplace, and in summer I like to experience a massage or two outside in the fresh air on my private patio. Getting a mobile massage is just a wonderful experience because you don’t have to get out or drive home after your massage and that makes it WORTH IT! Thank you Walt for taking care of me, my family and my friends. You are a wonderful and caring massage therapist and you are very much appreciated!

For 50 years I lived life with an anxious drumbeat and had trouble slowing down my mind. After countless hours of traditional counseling and attending groups, I still wondered, “where’s the joy, the fun of life.” A trusted friend referred me to Judith. I was skeptical, concerned about what hypnosis might mean – for no reason. What a life-changer Judith has been! From the very first session I started feeling better. More relaxed and focused. Judith’s occasional use of therapeutic hypnosis was a key tool in helping me understand the limiting beliefs that were driving my anxious thoughts. I’m enjoying life and loving myself and my relationships like never before. I’ve since referred several people to Judith, including my 90 year old parents. All have experienced the same life-changing results that no other counselors were able to provide.

Hannah came highly recommended and boy did she not disappoint. Whereas it takes time for most massage therapists to get to know your body and learn the areas that need the most attention, Hannah instinctively knew which areas to focus on and how much pressure to use. Not only did my body feel completely rejuvenated afterwards, but I also felt that my needs were really being attended to throughout the session. Hannah is wonderful and talented massage therapist - I would recommend her highly across the board!

I have looked for a consistently good massage for many years. I found it with Be Well. I always thought the deep tissue massage was best for my ailments, Missy has given me great insights to different types of massage that have helped my chronic pain as much as any medication. I travel a fair amount of time so the constant uncomfortable airplane seats, hotel beds, rental cars really take a toll on me; but, a great massage from Be Well Eagan and I'm feeling much better!

I was so happy to be able to work with Deanna to do breathing therapy. It was a blend of breathing exercise and reiki. I was expecting something fun and enlightening, but I didn't expect that it would be such a powerful experience! I found myself breathing through issues that I've held on to, and breaking through psychological barriers. It seems that everyone has a unique experience, but mine went very deep and I am grateful for her help in my progress.

Jay struck me as personable and very knowledgeable in his field of hypnosis. Should I find a way to come up with the money, I am definitely going back to give him the opportunity to treat me for tinnitus.

Back in 2008 Ι read one of George Rodafinos’ articles about the Functional Muscle Manipulation. He was discussing how physical traumas from an accident but also emotional tensions since childhood would be stored as memory in the muscles creating chronic contractions, acute pain and restricted mobility. The FMM with it’s deep, precise pressure and friction and with the deep, relieving breathing, helps in liberating this chronic muscle tension. All I read resonated with me. So I decided to study this technique. During the lessons I was receiving therapy and I was giving to others. I very well remember how ‘light’ my upper back felt after the first lesson. For 2-3 days after I kept feeling 'something happening’ in the whole length of my back, like it was ‘working’. After each lesson I felt the need to stretch and my whole back would ‘pop', especially the upper part, where I had my postural problem. My whole body gradually started feeling lighter, free and flexible. Others were noticing that my body was not ‘bent forward' anymore. A unique thing that happened to me after a lesson: While on the bus returning home, Ι found myself sobbing, but without crying, while at the same time I felt great emotionally. The FMM opened up my breathing, made it deeper and wider in my every day life. 'A straightening of the back may bring many changes in our being’. From the book 'The school for Gods' by Stefano Elio D' Anna

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is naturopathic medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is classified as an alternative healing method, but licensed naturopathic doctors share some of the same academic background as conventional medical doctors and can often prescribe some medications. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), naturopathic medicine is holistic care that addresses a wide range of problems including (but not limited to) allergies, chronic pain, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, obesity, respiratory conditions, heart disease, fertility problems, menopause, adrenal fatigue, cancer, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Naturopathic medicine aims to strengthen and empower the body and its organs to heal itself through low-force interventions. Here are some examples of the type of medical services often provided by naturopathic doctors, as cited by the AANP:

  • Clinical and laboratory diagnostic testing
  • Nutritional medicine
  • Botanical medicine
  • Naturopathic physical medicine (including naturopathic manipulative therapy)
  • Hygiene
  • Counseling
  • Minor surgery
  • Homeopathy
  • Acupuncture
  • Intravenous and injection therapy
  • Naturopathic obstetrics (natural childbirth)

Can naturopathic doctors prescribe medication?

Licensed naturopathic doctors can prescribe some pharmaceutical medication. Naturopathic doctors complete academic training similar to that of conventional physicians: a bachelor’s degree with a focus on pre-med studies, followed by a four-year residential naturopathic medical program whose first two years have a similar foundation to that of a conventional medical school. After completing their studies, they must pass a post-doctoral exam. Although licensed naturopathic physicians are able to prescribe medication, they usually focus on prevention rather than treatment of symptoms. A naturopathic doctor will offer a holistic approach to your care that encompasses your mental, physical and emotional health. While they will prescribe medication as needed to treat illness, they are also likely to be creating shifts in your lifestyle and nutrition to effect deeper changes in your body’s response to illness.

Do naturopaths take insurance?

Many naturopathic doctors accept insurance, but a separate question is whether your insurance covers alternative and naturopathic services. There are several steps you can take to find out:

  • Verify whether you live in one of the 20 states that currently licenses naturopathic physicians:
    • Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont and Washington.
  • Confirm whether your insurance will cover naturopathic medical services. Read your insurance plan’s fine print, verify whether naturopathic doctors fall into your insurance carrier’s definition of a doctor, and confirm that the care you are receiving is considered medically necessary. Questions to ask your insurance provider could include:
    • Am I covered for this treatment by a naturopathic physician?
    • Do I need a referral?
    • Is there a list of approved naturopathic doctors in my network?
    • What will the co-pay be?
    • Are there limits to my naturopathic coverage?
  • Before seeking medical care, it’s key to understand the difference between a naturopathic doctor and a naturopath. Anyone may advertise themselves as a naturopath, while to be a licensed naturopathic doctor, a person must complete academic and clinical training.

How do you find a good naturopath?

It’s important not to get misled by the title “naturopath” when searching for a naturopathic doctor. A naturopathic doctor is a licensed professional, while anyone who so desires can call themselves a naturopath. A naturopathic doctor has completed eight years of schooling and is licensed to provide high-quality medical care. When searching for a naturopathic doctor, a good place to start is by researching your state’s licensing and regulatory body for that profession.

Currently, 20 U.S. states license the practice of naturopathic medicine. For those seeking holistic, body-centered healing solutions, a naturopathic doctor can be a good fit. They use natural medicines as well as treatments such as electrotherapy and ayurvedic medicine to encourage the body to heal. Once you have determined a list of naturopathic physicians who are licensed in your state, look for reviews, ask for referrals, and interview the physician in person or by phone to find the right care provider for your health needs.

How long do naturopathic doctors go to school?

Like conventional physicians, naturopathic doctors undergo rigorous academic and clinical training prior to practice. Typically naturopathic doctors go to school for eight years. There are currently 20 states in the U.S. that provide licensing for naturopathic doctors. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, a naturopathic doctor must complete a bachelor’s degree and an accredited four-year residential naturopathic medical program, and pass an extensive postdoctoral board examination, the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations (NPLEX), in order to receive a license or registration to practice medicine.

The first two years of the residential naturopathic medical program cover many of the same areas of study as conventional medical schools. Naturopathic doctors provide primary patient holistic care. The goal of naturopathic medicine is preventative care and a focus on low force intervention healing methods. This can include natural medicines, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, homeopathy and much more. Naturopathic doctors often work in tandem with conventional medical doctors, as the two practices complement one another.
