    Sarah quoted a week to code our newsletter in mailchimp. I didn't hear from her after our payment was received and the materials were delivered to her, so I emailed her and asked for a status update on the 7th day, as well as a firm date the work would be complete. Sarah sent back a lengthy email scolding me -- saying that she was offended I demanded the work be done today (I didn't) and that I needed to give her the time she quoted (I did). Despite several requests, she would not provide a firm deadline. After another week, she finally delivered a product that: 1) was not responsive to mobile; 2) colors in an entire section did not show up; 3) spacing was off between items, so they did not align, and text was off center; 4) Did not account for necessary links (they were not able to be added due to the way the item was coded). What was more concerning was the lack of acknowledgement around missing the deadline she chose, the lack of urgency to complete the project (we needed it before Nov 1st) which made us miss our launch date, and lack of QA - she didn't test the end product to see what it looked like or she did, and just didn't notice/care. The communication was poor and often vague, especially around responding to specific questions that required details (ie, a date) and overall, she seemed unaware there were issues despite breaking down my unhappiness in very simple language (ie, "I'm pissed"). We ended up filing a dispute with our credit card provider because Sarah wanted paid in advance. We started over with someone new.

    Melanie, I am sorry that you feel that this occured. I was never informed about your deadline for the newsletter until the very end. I let you know at the beginning what I needed to do to code the newsletter in normal html and code the newsletter in MailChimp seperately so you could make changes. I let you know that I would let you know in a week that I was finished or what I had left but you emailed before that time frustrated scolding me for not communicating and forgetting what I shared. Everyone had a right to their opinion but I let you know that I was taken back from your aggressive email about me not doing my job before the week was up. It is important to communicate any deadline from the beginning, and if you want more updates than the promised week once you are informed that is the plan. Communication is vital. Again, I am sorry you feel things went this way but this was a problem with communication. Once I received your email with input, I made the changes and went to put those changes within 2 days of knowing them but was told you did not want them and was unable to access what I needed to do them. Again, I am sorry that you feel this way. Please remember to always communicate what you expect for communication if someone promises different than you need and communicate deadlines to help others in the future. This will help avoid issues from happening.     Ms. Mullin is new to our companies, which are start up companies. She is a real professional, and so far, a terrific graphics arts designer. She has taken our previous graphics and made them have a true professional look. She has very much helped us to pop up needed single page websites, knows the DIY Godaddy process completely, and is able to get a new one page site for us up and running very quickly. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
To keep it simple... 1. Speak with the client to find out more about their need to get full scope of work. 2. Create a quote around the information and share it with client. 3. Send invoice for client to pay. 4. Begin working on client project following payment received.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Knowledge is power so I am constantly learning something new to keep up with small business trends and new ideas (ask me what class I am taking now when you speak with me). I currently hold an Associates in Business Management and Administration, Certified in Web Development and Social Media Marketing, and more. Along with education, I have grown more tremendously through my work experience as real world is more than the classroom can ever teach from my personal experience. As a preferred partner of Adobe Business Catalyst, I keep up with all the lasted training and knowledge through continus education. I just completed a course full of brand new technology for websites.

My services are quoted by project or monthly service . Many of services needed by Entrepreneurs and Small Business Owners are one time projects while others needs require continuous attention and work through working monthly. The price of any project or monthly service is based on the amount of work time, type of work, and client budget. The more it takes, the more a project or monthly retainer may cost, but our retainers do break down to less per hour as the time increases to help reduce costs. Any questions you have regarding fees, I am happy to answer. Please do not hesitate to reach out and speak with me.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have lived in the world of small business since I was born. I always have loved small business and have experienced the ups and downs of what comes with having one. My string passion for Entrepreneurs and Small Business Owners led me to begin working independently in 2004 after working with a corporation that proceeded business services to over 110 small to medium sized businesses. I began to learn graphic and web design in 2005, and began adding this area to list of services soon after. Every service area I offer has experience, background, and never ending education involved.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Entrepreneurs, Small Business Owners (For Profit and Non Profit). The types of businesses I have worked with throughout the years is over a 100. To name a few areas... government, healthcare, education, e-commerce, financial services, entertainment, photography, self-service, sporting, and much more.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently began adding my projects to my Adobe Portfolio. It is not complete, as of yet, but shows a variety of my work so far. Feel free to ask me for the link.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask about a recent client? What work have they completed? Ask what areas or industries they have worked in? Ask if they are the one you will be working with and assisting you? If they are doing websites, don't just go by what they say, ask what kind of websites they have built. Look at their reviews and make sure they are real reviews, as reviews are easily bought or written by friend and companies just to earn trust. Don't just go by followers for Social Media Marketing as those can be bought to. Look at their company website, What does it look like? Is it informative? Does it look professional? How much do you get for the price? Does it sound "to good to be true"? Do they use templates or actually know code? Do they build online businesses? Ask them to write an official proposal to show you what is part of the price. I run into so many clients who have spent thousands being scammed and left with little to no work done. Be careful, not everyone is honest. Check their reviews, are they verified reviews?
