Introduction: UPDATE (7/2021): Due to extremely high demand, my studio is currently at maximum capacity. Please message me if you would like to be put on the waitlist. I am based in St. Paul MN, and now have many online students. At this point, I accept only reliable, weekly, long-term, committed students. All lessons are currently online and eventually, lessons will be online, in-person, or a combination of both, but students must be willing to go online in case of virus resurgences. At least 1 hour lessons are highly recommended for serious progress in almost all cases. Lessons are $76 for 1 hour, $52 for 45 minutes, and $38 for 30 minutes. Please feel free to read my full profile below, see my reviews, view my media, if you are seriously interested***
***A second announcement: at this point, I should note again that I am primarily interested in teaching students that are serious about music and about progressing quickly. It doesn’t mean necessarily that you must practice a lot, but it certainly could, and at the very least you should have a dedication to your instrument that goes beyond it being a mere “activity” to pass the time. At this point, most of my students are currently adults (by my choice), but I am open to accepting children that are well-behaved and dedicated to serious progress. For younger children, parent involvement both in and out of lessons is crucial and for older children, a moderate amount of involvement may be necessary depending on age and the individual child.***
Hey there! Are you tired of stumbling around aimlessly through YouTube? Do you need some structure and accountability in your music learning? I've been doing online lessons for 10 years, whereas most other places are only offering them as emergency measures until COVID passes. I've had the practice to make sure your online lessons are top notch. I utilize multiple camera angles, screensharing, PDF documents, and even custom handwritten notes and annotations from me that are digitized and emailed to you.
I have two bachelor's degrees in guitar performance- one from McNally Smith College of Music and another in progress from the Berklee College of Music in Boston. I have classical training from Musikhochschule Luebeck in Germany, a 2 year engineering degree and have served as an apprentice luthier. You will be hard pressed to find a more versatile instructor!
With new students I require a 60min introductory lesson. This helps me know where each student is starting from and gives me the opportunity to make sure we are all on the same page with goals and expectations, and you get to learn more about me, and this gives you my flavor of music lessons. I charge an hourly rate for the intro lesson.
Everyone has to do this, whether you are just picking up an instrument for the first time, or you’ve been in a band for years and just want a deeper understanding of music.
The intro is also a sample of lesson, and it won’t be as in depth as your
regular lessons but this will establish a baseline for us. Also you will get to see my level of coaching, and understand better what to expect. It's not a pass or fail audition… it just gives you a great taste of what the product that you’ll be getting, and it gives me a good understanding of the type of client I’ll be working with.
Now, not every student is right for my program. I have turned some
people away. For example, if a student initially expressed an interest in learning an instrument, and then realized they didn't have time for it because they would rather be doing soccer or bar league softball, that wouldn't work out. I just want to make sure my students are set up for success.
So the first thing that we do for the intro lesson is to pick a time. All of my scheduling and payments are done online, so if you contact me I will link you to it and you can get set up within minutes.
And at the end of the intro lesson if you decide to proceed, I will help
• Set goals with clear expectations on how to achieve them.
• Decide what package is best for you, based on your goals.
• I’ll let you know about my policies and billing procedures.
• I’ll also need you to sign my enrollment agreement.
• And finally we’ll decide on a lesson schedule.
