I would have to agree with Mr. Ward. DO NOT use this company - I would give 0 stars if I could. They were hired by the previous homeowners to do landscaping and arborvitae tree placement thus unfortunately inherited the mess. During the closing process of the home, the previous owners whom we knew, provided us e-mails from the owner of the company indicating that the warranty on some trees needing replacement would be honored until this Spring of 2018. However, at the time of closing/moving in (June 2017), he said it was too hot to dig and they would be replaced in the Fall. Two trees were replaced, however not only were they NOT the correct trees that the previous owners had instructed them to do initially. They also used equipment that ripped up our lawn and then tried to charge us extra to repair it - this is coming from a supposed lawn care company! Easily could have taken preventative measures to avoid destroying the lawn such as laying plywood down or using different equipment. They even ripped up the newly paved street we live on with their Bobcat of which the City was not pleased with. Here we are now in April and May of 2018 in which we have asked the owner repeatedly to come out and assess the trees for replacement since they still hadn't replaced the dead ones, but has refused to come out but instead has requested we take pictures and does his assessment on that. Moreover, he has now said he will not honor the warranty on the trees even though he is documented in writing, which is often legally binding, saying the warranty will be honored through this Spring. I'll finish by saying we've had two credentialed consulting arborists come out to assess the trees each of which has said it was stupid to replace them in the Fall like they did with Winter so close, and that they were planted wrong by not removing the wire basket, burlap, or twine. The owner is by no means credentialed as an arborist or fit to be doing this type of work quite frankly, and somehow disagrees with actual experts that say they were planted wrong and refuses to redo them. A simple search on Google also shows Arbor Day Foundation and many other credible experts indicating these were planted wrong by not having the wire basket, burlap, or twine removed. He insists the burlap will eventually disintegrate, however much research including Gary Johnson's at the University of MN has proven otherwise. One consulting arborist who even does legal testimonies said the situation is the epitome of a scam. In conclusion, DO NOT use them - terrible customer service and regard for your property. I should also mention that the Michael Freeman review giving this company 5 stars is in fact the owner, so take that how you will.
South Metro Lawn and Landscape's reply
The trees were all planted correctly by experienced and professional arborists and verified by the owner of the nursery we purchased from. This person bought a house from the previous owner and tried to get us to replace more trees for free on a warranty that had expired and was not transferable. After the last time we replaced the trees we noticed the rootballs were rotten and soaked, this is a site condition problem not a quality of workmanship or defect of the trees.

Customer service goes a long way. If someone ask for a quote related to season specific needs don't give them the run around about why it has yet to be accomplished, now, two weeks after the initial quote. Small businesses depend on local customers, you have lost one today.

Sorry Marcus sometimes things get lost in the weeds, I understand your frustration and wish we could have communicated better with you.

South Metro Lawn Care did a great job landscaping multiple areas within my backyard - including a beautiful paver patio, a perennial garden and they planted multiple trees to select areas of my yard to add much needed shade. The crew was friendly, professional and took their time listening to my ideas and my concerns regarding the up-keep of my yard. I would recommend this company to friends and family.
