Aaron sent us a quote the same day that we had posted our job on Thumbtack. He came to our home that evening and confirmed a very reasonable price. Aaron did a terrific job for us painting our living room, dining room, and kitchen and entry room ceiling. In addition to that, he removed wallpaper in our bathroom that was quite difficult and time consuming. Aaron is a great guy to work with and very professional. We will definitely use him again!!

Nick painted our newly finished basement (bedroom, bathroom, living area and stairs), our main living area (kitchen, hallway, living room and more stairs) as well as our upstairs living area. 5 different colors in all. He was highly professional and really knows what he is doing. We had a couple troubled walls that would "flash" or show the mud and taping and other defects in the wall... Nick was able to fix this with no problem! I appreciated how he explained what was happening and how he was able to fix the problem. I think he does an amazing job and was lower then some of the other bids we obtained. I highly recommend Nick for any of your painting needs. After I screwed up a staining project I also found out he does staining as well! I plan to use him for any future staining and painting need! Oh and I must say he was on time and very careful with covering things up and protecting the things that were not to be painted!! A real class act!

Is on time, and calls about any delay. You will be very happy with this guy! Don't keep him to yourself. We need to use his superb care again.

Turnaround time was exceptional! I needed to find an interior painter ASAP for a bathroom that was halfway completed with painting that I was unable to get to. Torres LLC scheduled an appointment to complete the job within 3 days of my search. Looking forward to seeing his work and adding another review with pictures!

Don White recently performed tiling, wallpaper removal and painting for me. Don did an excellent job. His "administative process was sound - he wrote out a proposal of services, his price was for the work to be done - not per hour - and committed to a completion timeline. I feel his pricing was very competitive. The kitchen tile backsplash was done within the timeframe he committed to. He was on time, respectful of my time and cleaned up thoroughly. The tile work was straight, good spacing, and very precise cutting around outlet openings. I love the final product. i then asked to remove 30 yr old wallpaper. He comitted to the project and completed the removal as well as painting the room as needed. Don is trustworthy and has high integrity. I'll be following up with him for future hoome project needs. Kayla was very professional and efficient. Our house required removing old wallpaper, which others had attempted and left quite a mess. Kayla was able to remove all the wallpaper and repair the wallboard. Her painting skills were excellent as well as her help in deciding colors and brands of paint. We had many small patch-ups jobs that needed repair as well as the re-paint of the kitchen. Everything was done very well and we are very satisfied. We would highly recommend Kayla to others. I had my interior trim and doors installed and painted. I had started the process a couple years ago, but was having difficulty finishing the project with 3 young boys and all there activities. I hired Adventure 25 to come out and give a bid and they could start the project in about a week. The first part of the process was to finish the trim work and rip all the basement trim out and a couple of doors that had not been replaced yet. The trim work was done in a couple of days. The painting was delayed because of rainy weather. This is where the stress begins. The prep work that comes before painting can be a lot of work and time consuming. There was little to no prep of the trim. Lots of missed nail holes, lots of missed caulking and the stuff that was done was very poor. I was told that this is high quality paint and it will cover in one coat. I know better. It can take several coats to make the white trim look good. There was paint all over the wood floors, tile in kitchen, paint on the cabinets, paint on my trees outside, paint on the concrete driveway, paint on my fire pit. There seemed to be no care in the world. Jaimie kept telling me that we are not painters. I understand that but my 5 year could of done better. It was supposed to be rolled and instead there was pain brush marks all the trim. The one painter said he thought it would look cute to but swirls with his brush on the top of all the door trims. I met with Jaimie 4 different times to which he said how do I make this right? I would go through things with him and come home at the end of the day to find more of a mess and continued poor quality work. I have never seen anything like this. He would say it would be fixed but I don't think he would watch over his workers and forget to tell them things. I am stressed out beyond believe as my hope was to have this finished to spend more time with my kids. Instead I have to redo most of it. I had another contractor come out and told me it would be about 10 thousand to fix. He never had seen such poor quality work. I would not recommend him to my worst enemy. Very nice person but I think he was over his head and always in a rush, hence the poor quality work. Since I cant pay 10 thousand to someone to fix it, I am now looking at a year or so to fix my trim. Very frustrated and angry customer.

Mark was the only Handy Man on ThumbTack that actually reached out to me. He showed up the next day, offered great advice and gave me a very reasonable quote. He showed up the 2 days he said he would and did a great job (gutters, flashing, painting). I now have my Handy Man for life. I’m actually putting together another list of things for him to do right now. 👍👍 Highly Recommend.

Madeleine was great to work with. We hired her to face paint at our kids' summer party. She was professional and friendly with the adults, and most importantly, she was really sweet to the kids and did a great job with the face painting. We will definitely be hiring her again and recommending her to friends and family!

Harald patiently went through our painting projects, giving tips on ones we were doing ourselves, and gave us the most reasonable estimate for the work. He painted our kitchen and living area (lots of cabinets and wall prep involved) and did an excellent job in a very timely manner. We will definitely consider him for future jobs!

I recently moved into a new house and it had a lot of awful paint colors in multiple rooms. I contacted Mike and he quickly responded and I scheduled a date with him to come and paint my interior walls. Mike did a fantastic job and worked hard all day long, he was also very clean and neat and didn't leave or make a mess. I highly recommend Mike for any painting needs and I'll definitely be having Mike come back in the future. Included are pictures from a small bath room remodel Mike painted for me.

Northern Walls Painting was able to give an quote very quickly, and started the job within only a few days at a very reasonable price. They almost could finished the job at estimated time frame, but got some delay due to bad weather, which is totally OK to me, considering another contractor I quoted asked me to wait for 4 weeks before he can start to work. The outside of house looks great again after the job and I'm 100% satisfied.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
