The job was for 4 pieces of work. Some roofing, step railing and installation of an Egress window. It was difficult for me to find a contractor doing multiple pieces of work, and also one that would take on such a small project and deal with the particulars of my lender and third party agency. Scott was very nice and understood my delimma having worked with other agencies that require stipulations. Scott stayed in contact with me throughout my process even when the process seemed to be a little rigid and at times quite cumbersome. He could have turned down the job, but he didn't. He wanted to help me close on my home and so he stayed and for that I am grateful! When Scott and his crew came to do the work, they were very fast and efficient. I am in my new home and loving it. Thanks Scott & crew for everything!

The owner Jason was excellent. The firm is small enough to give personal attention to all clients. His work crew works so hard and so fast. Right after the roof was installed we had a real strong wind storm that blew some of the newly installed shingles off the ridge vent. He personally came down and fixed it as well as did a complete final inspection. For a home owner that doesn't want big but personal attention from someone who knows roofs and roofing, this is the guy.

Absolutely phenomenal! I was quite leary about selecting the best roofing contractors to even come inspect my roof because of the gated neighborhood I live in. The Roof Guys were considerably professional during every phase in each aspect. The quality and craftsmanship these guys provide are top notch! I have a significantly large roof and I was originally quoted 8 days, because of the sheer efficiency of these guys, they were able to complete it in 5 days. A buddy of mine had recommended The Roof Guys to me a few times when I was originally searching, the only regret was not listening to him sooner! I will definitely recommend The Roof Guys to family, friends, and anyone who asks! I'm a quality freak and these guys definitely exceeded my expectations.

Picture this. ...a flooded house, with endless tussle with the insurance company and a gloomy moldy smell , until I met Julio. From hard wood floor installation, plumbing in the bathroom, installing a storm door, refinishing partial basement from water damage to helping with other handy jobs that were not even part of the agreement, because he is s perfectionist. The best part of it all was his professionalism. He treated my home with respect and I am happy to come home again.

I hired Nick (Top Notch Roofing) and his team to reroof my house in September 2016. Overall I was satisfied with the job that was done. Nick is patient, creative, and committed to customer satisfaction. My project included working with a second company to insulate the roof at the same time that Nick's team was re-roofing my house. When the insulation company increased the scope of their work at the last minute, Nick was flexible to accommodate those changes. He also stepped up with a plan that would keep the project on time. There was minor damage to the inside of the house from the roofing work but Nick was accommodating in making those repairs. I received estimates from five roofing contractors and I found Top Notch Roofing to be price competitive. I recommend Top Notch Roofing. Nick takes pride in what he does. You will be well cared for.

See for yourself. Could not be more satisfied. This is just the front. The backside got even more work to include a patio door, lighting, deck, and new cement work for a patio and sidewalk. BARC also took care of some badly needed electrical work, & chimney repair. The quality of the windows is unmatched and comes with a lifetime guarantee. (Window issues solved forever). My home, to include the garage, is pretty much maintenance free now with the new siding, windows and gutters. Best part is the whole process, aside from really quality workmanship, was how quickly this big job was completed. It never felt like a rush job, and it didn't drag on either. These guys stuck to their projected time frame and got to work to complete the project. Digging into this project, a couple of fairly serious issues in the existing structure became apparent, water damage rotted a garage wall, and ants were making a home in the living room wall. BARC fixed these issues without a losing time or cleaning out my checking account. If you want windows, or a couple of up-dates, they can take care of you. If it is a major overhaul with unforeseen issues, they still take care of you. Keeping all this work coordinated, me updated, and always available for any questions, concerns, thoughts was Jim McCrank. The guy is really easy to work with and none of that "slick salesman" nonsense. So pretty impressed with BARC from my first contact with them all the way through the process and the finished work. Very satisfied on my end and highly recommend BARC

As a way of introduction I am 3M Retiree. I have dealt over my 35 years with 3M, with many vendors, third parties, distributors, home improvement companies and builders. I had the opportunity and privilege to have met The Kellington, LLC in Hastings, MN. I was in the need to do a repair in one side of the house, outside back wall, stucco repair, painting and small finishing details. It looks like a small job, but was a very intricate work, with a lot of different issues that needed to be taking care. I reviewed the plan with Mr. Kellington and the work started. Everything was done and repair within the time needed. There were all the issues covered and finished as planned. If I need them in the future, I will not hesitate to call them back. This company is a very serious, ethical and professional one. No matter how big or small the job is, they will take care of it with great responsibility.

I will choose Eastern Roofing and Siding for all future roofing and siding needs. I highly recommend anyone reading this to do the same.

My husband and I are extremely pleased with the work that Primo Restoration and Construction has provided for us. After meeting with a few other roofing contractors, I trusted and knew that Primo would be the right company for us. Juan Baltazar did an amazing job working with us and spent extra time meeting with our insurance adjuster, which was greatly appreciated. He made sure that we went into the job with no questions in our mind of the whole process and what was to be expected in the end. He took extra time to explain things, offered suggestions and opinions when they were asked and made sure that everything was done to our expectations. They finished the roof project ahead of schedule, the crew did excellent work, and everyone was very pleasant, considerate and professional. We are very happy with our new roof, it looks fantastic!

We hired Paul to finish our basement. Everything from framing, Sheetrock and tile work in the bathroom. He was accommodating to our budget restraints and went above and beyond, doing some value added work at no charge. We would definitely use him again if needed in the future and will recommend him to people we know.

Hired to do insulation and some roof work. The insulation truthfully made zero difference in the comfort of my home, but I think that's more my house than their work. They were competitive in pricing, on time, knowledgeable, and followed up in a timely manner. Overall a pleasant experience and I would hire them again.

Thorough and honest bid. Mark pointed out a couple things about the previous shingles and roof design (two vent systems cancelling each other out) that other contractors didn't point out. The singles that were on our house had a class action lawsuit and Carroll's Exterior helped file the claim for us. Installers were great and the roof looks amazing!

Jake at Goldstar Contracting re-sided my home. He remained professional at all times and took the time to understand exactly what I wanted done. He was always available when I had questions. He listened to what I wanted and in the end I LOVE my new siding. The work and materials is high quality and I do not have 1 complaint. The job was completed in 1 1/2 days. The crew was fast, clean and accomodating. I would recommend Gold Star Contracting to anyone and would use them again without a doubt.

I worked with veterans integrity to complete a roofing and window job in Lakeville on my house. It was an insurance claim from hail, and Blake did an excellent job working with my insurance company to complete the repairs on time, within budget, and produced a quality end result. He's very professional, does what he tells you he will, and knows his profession well. I will be recommending Blake to friends and family who are in need of a good contractor.

We had water staining on our ceiling, so we called Home Pro America and told them we were concerned. They were very responsive and sent someone out the same day. They found that there was a moisture problem in the attic, which had caused the water staining and quite a bit of mold. They presented a plan to remove the moldy insulation, apply a mold stain remover on the underside of the roof decking and rafters, correct the ventilation, seal the penetrations into the attic and reinsulate. Because of our concerns, they scheduled quickly and completed everything the following week. They provided before and after pictures so we could see what had been accomplished. Everyone was very professional throughout the process. We will use them for future projects and will recommend them to friends and family. Great job Home Pro America!

Unlike some others that I have been burnt by CV Contracting did exactly what they said they would do and kept the price fair. I will use them again for sure.

Our home sustained significant damage in an August 2013 hail storm. We needed to replace the entire roof, the windows on the north side of our home, and all the gutters and downspouts. (The house also required painting, but we already had a different contractor lined up for that part of the project.) There were many storm chasers over many months calling and stopping by, eager for our business. Lakewoods Remodeling was recommended to us by a neighbor who had used them at a different time. Scott Rise was exceptional throughout the entire project. He proved to be a tremendous partner and advocate, often going to battle with our insurance company to be certain our house was returned to its pre-storm condition. Neither myself nor my husband are knowledgeable about the construction industry, but we learned very early on that we could trust Scott; he was truly looking out for our best interests. The initial insurance adjuster on our claim made significant errors and miscalculations and Scott worked directly with a successor adjuster to get everything corrected and agreed upon before the repair work began. Another neighbor complained to me about the contractor they were working with for their home repairs. She said that they were unresponsive and hard to get a hold of during the project. That was not the case with Lakewoods. Scott was always responsive and has exceptional follow-up skills. I rarely waited even 8 hours to hear back from him and he often communicated with me on the weekends. He even texted me from a funeral on one occasion, simply to let me know what was going on and when I could expect to hear back from him. The quality of the work has been very good and the various crews that were on our project were professional and respectful of our home. I can't think of a single situation working with Lakewoods where I was dissatisfied with any aspect of their work. There aren't ratings high enough for Lakewoods. Scott Rise did everything we could have hoped for from a contractor and more. We definitely will use Lakewoods for any future projects--large or small--and I highly recommend this company at every opportunity!

They did a good job, on time and for the price quoted. That's all you can really ask from a contractor as far as I'm concerned.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
