Pedro was a pleasure to do business with! Came out the next day and gave an estimate then came the following day and completed the work. I had tree limbs blown over from a storm into the neighbors yard and needed it removed fast. Highly this company. Give him a try you won't be sorry!

I hired Mid-America for a one-time tree removal. Robert was friendly and polite. He underbid other contractors and did the job for the estimated amount as well. They got to the job quickly and communicated effectively. I will call them again for any future lawn care needs.

The owner responded to my thumbtack inquiry right away and beat all other bids. Hired for leaf cleanup days before moving out of our old house. I was kind of in a bind from procrastinating and not doing the yard work before the move. We have a pretty big lot with 5 large trees in and around the yard. I cleaned up the leaves earlier this year and filled up about 30 paper yard bags. The yard was covered again and I really didn't want to spend a whole day bagging it up. They came out right away and made my leaves disappear. They also removed a pile of old tree limbs and bushes (which I thought would be an issue). They Cleaned up the whole yard for a fair price. I would definitely recommend Irreco for any yard projects. I will be using them in the future.

I had a large tree cut down and another large tree trimmed. Quad C Tree Service provided a timely estimate and scheduled the appointment as soon as the weather permitted. I was very impressed with their professionalism and they left my yard cleaner than when they arrived. I plan to use them again in the Fall and would highly recommend this business.

He was friendly, knowledgeable,on time. We walked around the yard and discussed what needed to be done. He started right away, mowed, edged, and trimmed as well as blowing everything clean and neat. I discussed having him come back to do some tree trimming, and landscaping work next week. Priices are fair and Will hire hmmm again. He has all his own equipment, is licensed and insured which adds peace of mind. He is young, strong, prepared to work and is finished in a short amount of time. Terry Sprous, Festus, ,MO

Justin and his team did a fantastic job. There are quite a few trees close to my very tall home. The branches were overgrown and literally resting on my roof. Justin came out and cut the branches back. He was timely, efficient, and clean! And, very professional.

Reynaldo and Manuel did an excellent job for us and we plan to engage their services again. They were very anxious to start work and were looking for other items they could do around our home. Not only do they do concrete work, but they are very good at landscaping services, too. I rated them a 3 out of 5 on communication only because English is not their primary language. They take great care to make sure they are doing what was requested. They put in a small concrete pad for our trash container and it was done very well. We have several other places that can use some concrete work and will engage them for that. They also work with tile.

My yard is small but we have a border of 4 very large trees. It is fenced and it required raking and blowing leaves. There are garden beds and overall not an easy fall clean-up. We have lived here for 35 yrs and this is the first time we have hired someone.I'm glad we did. Communication was excellent. I told him what I wanted done and what I didn't want. It was a perfect job. I will hire Jason again without hesitation.

Mike removed a tall pine from my yard, within 10 feet of our dog ear fence, without incident and rather quickly. He came fully prepared with the proper safety equipment and tools to get the job done and haul the tree away. Cordial, efficient, safety conscience and affordable. His is the only number I have for tree services. Very satisfied!!

I had a wonderful experience with Kathy Selz. Hired her and her team to do a landscape project and to remove a tree and plant a new one. They were very professional, friendly and knowledgable. They offered me suggestions that were really helpful. The project was done timely and looked immaculate when they were done. It is very refreshing to hire someone to actually do exactly what you hired them to to and get it done on time. I will call them for all my outdoor landscape needs!

Chuck took down several trees and shrubs on our property. He was right on time, and got straight to work. He did an excellent job and was very attentive in caring for the surrounding work area. His clean up was so thorough, you would not know he was even there. His rates are very reasonable. He was very polite and took the time to ensure he understood my request. Chuck is polite and very pleasant to work with. I cannot recommend Chuck enough if you are looking for a honest professional that does quality work at fair price.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
