FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First I really like to meet with the customer, at the property the work is being done on. This way I can talk to them and get a feel for exactly what they want. Then I give them a rough estimate if they are not sure what they want. This gives the client a good idea of the price they are looking at. Then we tweek the design to make it smaller or bigger. Or add the specialty items they want. A lot of people don't realize how many options you can have on a deck. And it is a simple deck we can get you a bid the first time with one meeting.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went through the carpenters apprentice program for three years. They taught me the basics in framing, trim work, cabinets and Windows and siding and others. My training also includes 10 yrs of work with Mc Bride $ Sons home builder. Where I was a Forman. And then lastly 20yrs of experience.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started this type of work, working as a laborer. That boss encouraged me to go into the union. I stayed in the union until the recession when I got laid off. At that time I started working for myself just to get by. But the customers called for repeat business and I was able to support myself and family.
