Our son took flute lessons from Mary Somogyi from the fifth grade until the week he left for college. Mary not only teaches the mechanics of playing the flute and reading notes, but teaches how to make music. This takes time and practice. Mary's patient and encouraging nature helps her students to feel comfortable when making mistakes and learning. She also incorporates music history and information about composers. Our son loved learning about the composers of the music in which he was playing. We were really impressed by Mary's teaching music as a hole and not just about the instrument. She is definitely a professional who is passionate about teaching music. Give her a try, you won't be disappointed.
Ryan is an excellent piano teacher who really has the patience to instruct young children and get them engaged with learning how to play the piano. My son has learned all of the piano keys, how to read music, how to play and how to keep time, all in the 3-4 months that he's been studying under Ryan. I can't recommend him enough!
It was wonderful experience. I enjoyed her energy and appreciate the passion she has for music and teaching. I'm excited about learning!!
I first started taking lessons with Aaron when I was 10, and am now 21 with an Associates degree in guitar performance. Studying under Aaron was a real force changer for me, as I now continue building my music education. Really fortunate he was my first teacher. Highly original/creative teaching style for all ages and music interests.
Patrick has been a great teacher so far! I took lessons in the past and he was able to pick up with me where I left off. He is incredibly patient as I continue to learn and helpful when I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Something that I appreciate is that he is open to going in whatever musical direction I want to go and is able to quickly learn songs himself before teaching me the correct way to play them. He has also been very accommodating with my schedule and open to moving lesson times if needed which has been a big help. Overall, highly recommended!
I started with Jeff around the middle of December 2016. I have had about 6 to 7 weeks’ worth of lessons. I have come a very long way in a short amount of time. I finally feel that I will accomplish my goal of being able to play guitar (after years of trying and never succeeding). Jeff is a fantastic music teacher and is very knowledgeable. He will also break down songs that YOU want to learn and incorporates them in the weekly lessons. Which helps keep you motivated and helps you learn at an even faster pace. Not to mention he comes to your home and teaches. That is a major convenience factor. If you have always wanted to learn the guitar or have tried and never quite reached your goal, look no further than Jeff. He will help you achieve your goal and mold you into a great guitar player. Highly recommended.
I started piano lessons with Melrick around April 2016. He has made the investment very worthwhile. He is knowledgeable in both reading music and learning by ear. I have no regrets and look forward to my continued growth. I would highly suggest him to anyone that is interested in learning to play the piano no matter what age you are.
As an adult student, music lessons can be a daunting experience; however, after our first meeting it was clear that Steve understood the learning differences between age groups. Steve is passionate about his craft and has the ability to teach his skills in an organized and easy to understand fashion. I feel that I have developed my skills tremendously in just a months worth of lessons and look forward to developing even more. If you are young or old, I would recommend giving Steve a chance.
As a 59 y/o beginner, I'm enjoying the opportunity to learn how to read music and play the piano for the first time. I can count on Chris to be on time for our appt and ready for the day's lesson. I appreciate his patience and his ability to help me progress with each session. His central location, reasonable price, easy-going personality and teaching ability are helping me achieve my goals. I highly recommend Chris to anyone of any age who wants to learn to play the piano.
Every teacher and staff member at Shock City School of Music is totally outstanding. The teachers not only have great talent and experience, and they also truly care about their students and invest in their success. A great place for lessons!
I am doing guitar lessons with A major Music. So far I like the program and I like the instructors. A Major Music is convenient and affordable.
Its fortunately that my daughter has taken piano class at Ms. Kathleen Foster's Piano studio since last year. My daughter has ever had three different piano teacher. Ms. Foster is the best one that I would recommend. She is very patient and organized. Im so glad that my daughter can learn a lot from Ms. Kathleen Foster and make progress step by step.
Nick is an extremely talented musician, pianist, and piano teacher. He has been a very strong teacher and shown me a lot of new skills as an already accomplished and advanced student. I look forward to more lessons with Nick!
Our boys (ages 12 and 14) have had Bill as their piano teacher a total of 3 years, two years in the beginning until he relocated out of the area, and now we are back with him since his return. He challenges and encourages them in their piano studies, in both piano performance and theory, and he is a very accomplished musician himself. We couldn't be more pleased to have Bill instruct our boys.
Miss Brittany works so wonderfully with our 11 year old daughter. This is our daughter's first time taking piano lessons, and she enjoys it so much! Miss Brittany makes it fun, comfortable, and feasible ~ ensuring that our daughter is learning step-by-step with reachable goals to ensure progress and success. We appreciate Miss Brittany's enthusiasm for music and teaching, and we highly recommend her as a piano instructor!!
Katie taught my two girls piano during the 2011-2012 (5th & 6th grades) & 2012-2013 (6th & 7th grades) school years, and some during the summers. They each did half an hour lessons with her each week. Katie works very well with children, my girls loved her! She was very encouraging each week to one of my daughters, who is extremely hard on herself. She is also flexible & extremely knowledgeable in the area of music. She was able to see that one of my daughters played better by ear and the other one played better by reading the music & switched one of their piano books accordingly, in the middle of the school year. Katie is a great piano teacher and I highly recommend her.
Paul and Nina were beyond perfect for our wedding. They brought tears to ours eyes and we could not have asked for more professional musicians for our big day.
Dave is an excellent guitarist and a very patient teacher. He is able to adjust the level of skill and speed to the needs of the student. A student will gain confident and ability quickly with Dave. I highly recommend him. Laura
