I think my total was a bit high ($189) to add some caulk to a wrong nipple (whatever that means). However; I’ve used this company in the past and have been satisfied.Mar 26, 2019VerifiedR-Mech Heating Cooling & Plumbing's reply

Central Air Conditioning Repair or Maintenance
Came outside of the agreed 2 hour window because of delay at previous job. That was ok. Very nice and courteous to talk to. Explained what the issue is and was honest. Only thing that surprised me was the cost. Typically the diagnostic cost is included in the repair cost if work is done. But got charged $70 for the visit and $100 for cleaning. Total duration was around an hour. From that viewpoint, felt it was quite expensiveJul 13, 2018VerifiedR-Mech Heating Cooling & Plumbing's reply
Thank you for the review, Vasu.We love hearing from our customers whether it is good or not so good. We understand your concern over the cost and I researched the visit and here is what I found: The technician found the unit was bypassing freon in the compressor. The condenser coil was completely caked with debris so it had to be cleaned. He rinsed the condenser off so it was cooling. The service disconnect handle was melted and one of the poles in it was fused permanently. It needed replaced, but he suggested replacing the entire system due to the age- your system is 28 years old. Your system is drawing a high amount of amperage-not drawing Max Amps, but is rated at 25 and is drawing 21. According to the technician, your compressor is likely failing due to lack of maintenance and cleaning on the outdoor unit. We came out 2 days later and gave you a quote for a new system. Our HVAC manager is the one who came out to do the work and he is one of our most knowledgeable and experienced technicians. Our diagnostic charge is the cheapest around. I hope the explanation of the amount of work our technician did in that hour helps you understand the charge and you do not still feel it was quite expensive. We look forward to working with you in the future. Angela
I purchased and Angie's List Big Deal for an AC Tune Up. The whole thing started off bad when the technician was 15 minutes late with no phone call and tried to tell me it's a two hour window in which they arrive. Not one person said that in the several phone calls it took for me to make the appointment, so either someone screwed up their job or he was lying. Either way, I never got an apology. At one point in time he came inside and took the filter out of my furnace and was in the process of taking it to his truck when I asked him what he was doing. I told him that filter was only a week or two old and he said "Don't you want a free one?" I said yes but told him I didn't want him to take my practically new filter so he set it down in my hallway and said he'd put it back. He walked by it three times without even looking at it so I eventually moved it back downstairs myself. At one point in time I had asked him about how to change a setting on my thermostat and instead of saying he didn't know, he just walked up to it and started pressing random buttons. I asked him to stop and told him I could find the manual and do it myself; I only asked if he knew off hand to make it a bit easier on myself. Once he was done, he told me a couple numbers in my system were off. That was it. I asked him what he did and he named about three or four things on the list of 20 things he was supposed to do. I asked him about the other items and he said "Did you want me to do that?" I asked him why he didn't already do it and all I got was a blank stare. When he was leaving, I asked him for some kind of paperwork to tell me what was wrong and he told me he would email it to me. After a week of getting nothing, I finally called to ask. I spoke with the owner, Brad (for the second time, but I'll get to that later), and he told me my refrigerant was low and something was broken and because of that, the technician could not do the other things on the tune-up list. #1. He (the technician) never told me what was wrong. #2 He never told me what I needed to do to fix it. #3. He never offered to repair it. #4. He never told me I needed it repaired before the rest of my tune-up/inspection could be finished. At this point, I still have not received ANY information on what's wrong with my AC unit and the owner told me he didn't care if I left a bad review on Angie's List because it wouldn't matter. This is my SECOND experience talking with the owner where he has been a complete jerk. On the first occasion, we were discussing how I wanted to install a tankless water heater. He spent 20 minuted insulting me for my choice to go electric even after I told him several times that I didn't appreciate him speaking to me like that. He later sent me a weak apology through Angie's List and offered me an electric tankless water heater that he knew would be useless in my house. After I placed my Angie's List review, he sent me an email telling me I was drinking and that's why the technician didn't offer to fix my AC Unit. I was drinking soda out of a glass and I guess the teenager they sent to my house didn't realize you could drink out of a glass without there being booze inside. Overall, out of all the bad experiences I've had different companies across both states, this is my one of the WORST ever. Bottom line: I did NOT get what I paid for and the owner is the rudest man I've ever dealt with. Just remember: He said it didn't matter if I told Angie's List about this because people would still hire him. Do you want to be the person proving him right?Apr 22, 2014
