Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Always understand the nature of performance. It is to entertain only. There are a number of providers and companies with gimmicks and special features to their shows, let there be no question as to the type of entertainer you are hiring. Be certain about the level of professionalism in his/her field and ask him/her about it!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. A dj is only as good as the party that (s)he plays. Without a good time, most people in this country might just not have one, right? So, with that idea in mind, it is a tangible and marketable service with good providers and bad ones, figure out where and when those things come into play; you've got a good dj whenever you need him/her!

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. How many years have you worked as a dj?
What genres are you comfortable playing?
Do you take requests?
What kind of audience do you prefer?

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. The sort of people who know the value of a good time, the inherent worth in enjoying yourself do; after a while, make for good company.
I've always wondered what kind of folks have no use for entertainment like mixed music or dancing.
Not sure they exist. Or, at least, I haven't met any.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. You know, half the reason I'm on this website; here, advertising is because It is difficult to get job security working as an entertainer or musician.
It's even harder to get your foot in the door.
I recently worked as a dj in a couple of clubs in Midtown, KCMO and the environment was one where, given the economy, the staff wasn't too thrilled about paying me what my services are really worth.
I still hung in there and made it obvious what the value behind a good soundtrack can be, especially in a club or bar setting.
