Chad is a skilled trainer who is both talented and passionate about his work. He is committed to building relationships with his clients that focus on how to create a fitness and wellness plan that leads to lifelong healthy habits. As a client, I value his data driven approach to understanding why and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. As a personal trainer, he is very professional and supportive as he helps his clients build a sustainable fitness and nutritionally solid foundation. I am extremely impressed with the educational resources that he makes available and opportunities to learn about nutrition both face-to-face and online. The results that I have achieved as a client are due to a combination of nutrition and wellness learning opportunities, combined with an individualized exercise program that is challenging yet realistic. Chad’s commitment and extensive fitness and nutrition knowledge is evident in the success and results that I have achieved as a client to a healthier and sustainable lifestyle.

I am a life coach, and when Steve came to me for "best practices" information I decided to test him with my 4 toughest cases. In 3 of them he easily arrived at the same advice I gave and the last one actually had a better solution which I passed on. He is well read and knowledgeable, very personable, fair and sometimes brutally honest. I would consult with him if I had a problem.

I have known and worked with Ken as my personal trainer for several years. He is one of the best in the Greater KC area. He cares most about helping his clients achieve their fitness goals in a respectful and motivating way. I have had personal trainers in the past that pushed me in unrealistic pursuit of their own goals. Ken's focus is always on your goal and making sure that you keep up with it. I would highly recommend him for those that are just wanting to start exercising and those that have goals they want to pursue.

My first experience with Celeste was awesome. We connected right away and she made sure I felt comfortable and safe in her environment as well as before we began our session. Celeste really takes the time to connect with her clients on a personal level and it was an amazing experience. The next day I felt like a load had been lifted from my body. I felt lighter, happier, and more in sync with my emotions. I would definitely recommend Celeste for anyone seeking a Reiki session.

Adi has been a great influence on me even after just a week! Her home training is excellent and challenging. I also took her food demo class and that was great! She was very clear and had specific dietary recommendations for me and my family that are easy to follow. She is prompt, fun, and professional with lots of personal training and nutrition expertise. So glad I found her!

I began training with Bob Vaughan in September 2011. Bob is a professional who is well-prepared and varies the workouts in order to challenge me and help me progress. He's attentive during sessions, suggesting changes in order to correct my form or technique. The guidance he's provided has motivated me to make changes in my workouts and nutrition. My energy level and self confidence have benefited tremendously. I have gone from someone who went to the gym regularly but never pushed myself to someone who is happy to leave a session knowing I've given it my all. I view my sessions with Bob as an investment in myself. I highly recommend Bob to anyone who is interested in finding a personal trainer.

I utilized the 8 Week Transformation program offered by Sarah's Limitless Fitness by Sara. I have always struggled to maintain a consistent diet and workout plan. With this program, Sarah was able to create a meal plan that fit my busy lifestyle. I currently travel 60% of the year, meaning I spend more than half of the year in a hotel room. Sarah was able to adjust my meal plan that accommodated this lifestyle, and in addition, provided me with work out plans that I could either do in my hotel room or the gym the hotel provides. Within the first week I was eating healthier, down about 5 lbs and Sarah was right by my side encouraging me to keep pushing myself. She was honestly just as excited as I was which really brought a sense of accomplishment. Throughout my 8 Week Transformation program, Sarah pushed me to work hard, eat right, and also give myself a break or two. Because of this, I was able to drop 25 lbs in two months. This program is not just for 8 weeks, this transformation was for life. Sarah instills this kind of passion to change one's unhealthy habits and continue to live a healthier lifestyle. This kind of service is priceless and I will always be grateful for her time and generosity. I would recommend Sarah to anyone I do and do not know...truly she has her heart in the right place and will not disappoint. I am looking forward to Sarah and I's next milestone as trainer and trainee!

I was desperate to loose weight and start feeling good again, I was tired of trying clothe on and nothing looks good and I was tired of being tired. One afternoon I saw a post from Jen and I decided to reply to see what was it about, we meet that same week and my journey began. I started to work out 2 times a week for 30 min each time with her, I got some advice about nutrición and I made some changes (not a lot thou). After 2 weeks only I was able to tell the difference in my mood, I was feeling happier and I wasn't as tired any more. My body started to change, I no longer needed to hide and complain about the big rolls of fat in my back, little by little my pants started to get bigger and bigger and in 3 month I was wearing 2 sizes smaller. In 3 and a half months I lost 13 pounds and I feel great. Today I look back and I can't believe how far I came, I have never work out in my life and I always thought that it was going to be much harder that it really is, Jennifer made it easy and enjoyable, she is truly awesome, I look forward for my work out days with her. I am still have a long way to go but I am planning to keep working with Jen and I know I will finish to meet my goal with her help. I feel truly bless to have her by my side in this journey.

Doug helped prepare my fiance and me for our wedding. He met with us twice before the ceremony and covered basic "wedding preparations" with us - making sure we understood the commitment, and he got to know us as a couple - taking great care to walk us through the process and help us prepare for our big day. He is awesome! He is a great life coach and advisor. His wedding ceremony was meaningful, faithful, simple and included all of our wishes. Ron & Stacey Tella

Sarah has been my coach on and off for several years. When we first met, she helped me navigate a major professional shift and I return to her again and again to help me get back to balance to manage both challenges and opportunities. She has a very sophisticated technique, which helps you chart your own course while benefitting from her keen questions and insights. All the while, she is your accountability partner, as well as cheerleader. I give the highest recommendations for Sarah as a personal and professional coach.

I have been working with Jeff for 3 weeks. I contracted him as a personal trainer and he has exceeded my expectations. The first time we met he pointed out some strength deficits I was not even aware of and has been working with me to improve those. He adjusts the workouts to my needs each week and always encouraging. I would highly recommend Jeff to anyone looking into a personal trainer.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

        What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

        Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
