After talking with several photographers, he was the only ONE I liked. His professionalism is unlike any other - prompt with responses and super creative. He was patient but professional, giving us tips throughout the event to make sure the pictures came out great. He clearly is very good at his job, a great eye for unique shots. Made sure to get the traditional pictures we were looking for as well.

Gary came to our corporate office and took corporate head shots of 7 execs. He was professional, made the individuals comfortable and paid attention to details like a wrinkle in a shirt, pose, etc. I find that attention to detail lacking in most photographers.

I was looking to secure a photographer to capture my Grandpa's 87th birthday celebration. I live in Florida and was skeptical on booking a photographer strictly based on online reviews. Javier is very professional, punctual and responded within a timely manner to questions concerns/edits. Affordable prices for quality service! I would definitely rehire/refer his work.

When looking for a photographer you don't want to just pick someone who is good at taking pictures. You want someone who captures relationship, meaning, memories, and emotions. I often stare at my wall of photos and marvel at my sweet daughter and husband. Kevin has truly captured the magic of our family together and the photos I have will be cherished for a lifetime. I am so thankful I have found kevin as our photographer! I definitely recommend Kevin Keith photography!

We loved having Thomas as our photographer for our wedding day. He was friendly, professional, made us feel relaxed and have fun, and the quality of his work was second to none. Not only did we get some great formal photos throughout the day but he caught some of the most natural candid moments of the day which have stuck with us ever since. We LOVED the photos he produced, and still to this day we look back on those photos and feel like we are right back there. I would highly recommend Thomas for any photography projects from the most personal to the most professional. - Cameron & Susannah

I am a Realtor & this was my first time using Ron's services, so I didn't know what to expect. I was more than pleased...Ron was on time, did what he said he would do. Spent lot's of time taking photos of my new listing so they would look great. I had my photos the same day. I would for sure use Ron's services again!

We gave Elizabeth a very hard task (capturing a disc golf tournament), and the final products are amazing! As a smaller nonprofit with a limited budget, we hesitated hiring a photographer for the event, and I am SO glad we did. The photos could not be more amazing!!! Elizabeth was able to capture the action and excitement of the event, and the quality of her photos is amazing. Because this was our first tournament, I gave her little direction (sorry, Elizabeth!), and she exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend her to anyone who asks!

We just hired Matt for our upcoming wedding. We live out of town from where our wedding will be but Matt has been great working with us. He is one of the only photographers I've found that offers "All day coverage" and literally means ALL DAY! He is there for you on your big day and we are so happy we found Jukeboxx Media! I've already recommended him and we will continue too. Trust me, do yourself a favor and check Jukeboxx Media out.

Jim was too kind to us, he let use have an engagement photo shoot because our wedding was an early brunch thing so it wasn't a long wedding so he said would do that for us since short wedding. And he spent a long time with us there. At our wedding, he said he could continue more of our wedding pics when it's cooler like in a few weeks in a different place in the city, more interesting photos in our dress and wedding suit. He offered to take us to a carnival or someplace unique for not just or location photos, something truly unique. We never asked for these extras he just offered them up for no extra because he's awesome. I like him and what he offered us as options allot. I will contact him first if I need a photographer in the future

Working with Bobby was a fantastic experience. I recently took Bobby on a high profile, 3-day shoot in North Carolina. Bobby was extremely impressive to not only me, but to the clients as well. He exhibited a great understanding of videography from both the technical aspects as well as storytelling. I couldn’t be more impressed. He paid attention to the small details and had a great “can-do” attitude the entire trip. I have already booked Bobby for two more multiday shoots out of state and plan on continuing to use him as often as possible. Having worked with countless videographers and agencies in the KC area, I would highly encourage anyone to consider Bobby for your next video project. His skill level and attitude is hard to match in the area. Thanks Bobby, looking forward to working with you on many more projects!

I hired Joshua for my wedding May 2015 without ever meeting him. His prices were right and it came with everything I wanted and more. I was beyond impressed with him!!!! Very professional and friendly. He worked along side my photographers very well all day long. He came in the morning for getting ready and he stayed with us all hours of the day until we got in our get away car (12 hours !!) His work is awesome! I just received my wedding highlight video, perfect length 10 min and I was so impressed he added our special songs! He really captured the whole day and all the emotions and fun that went along with it! I got to re-live the whole day watching that film! We could not be any happier!! :):)

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
