I needed help and plenty of it with my tired old resume. It didn't much suit me and after a couple of years adding and removing data I could just barely stand it attach it to an application. Enter Jari. Most of the time I associate doing something special for myself as a pedicure, a good cup of coffee or maybe a dinner out with friends but I can't tell you the satisfaction I got from spending a couple hours with Jari talking about my career and where I was hoping to land. Taking the little blurbs I offered and working her magic I all but fell over when I saw myself on that resume. Along with this incredible resume Jari gave me tips on how to target my responses to interview questions based on the skills listed on the resume, avoiding interview pitfalls and feeling really, really good about representing myself. Eloquent, brilliant, adept, facile, and focused are the bare tip of the iceberg qualities when it comes to describing Jari Holland Buck's repertoire of writing and public speaking skills--personified. I came to her for a couple of projects that were 2-3 sessions in length. She gets to the crux of the matter swiftly, does her magic (work) then finalizes in a wrap-up. She is thoughtful, diplomatic and strikingly on the mark. Jari is a great listener. She not only gathers your information, she considers many approaches, and she researches to come up with the most satisfying solution. Jari helped me with my resume and career coaching. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am signed up for all the major job boards and review openings on a daily basis. When I see a job that interests me, I apply.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I worked with a convicted felon and helped him craft a resume that got him a job the next day. Part of the process included interview coaching around how to handle the indelicate questions typically posed by recruiters in a delicate, respectful and honest fashion.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
As a former recruiter, I can write with first-hand knowledge regarding what appeals in a 10 second first glance at a resume. You can hire someone who writes well and have a presentable document. It is better to hire someone who has occupied the job of the gatekeeper, namely Human Resources, as we know all the tricks...
