Jeremy/Rachel were great to work with. Not only were they the only ones to respond to my request, they got me worked in right after the holiday. Showed up early, knocked my washer/dryer installation out super quick and cleaned up afterwards. Since the scale only goes to 5, it's a for sure 5, but I'd really give them a 10! I will for sure use them again for other projects.

I had a plumbing issue and I was scared of how much it would cost. My washer was draining into my downstairs toilet. When I found Steve on Thumbtack, it was nice to receive an immediate response via text and on my cell phone. They were on time, professional, and genuine. It made me feel at ease knowing he was there to help me. He fixed my issue and let me know the root of the issue. I will use them in the future!!

Kyle was a good guy. Friendly. My laundry room flooded while washing and he cleared the drain. Ran the washer to ensure the clog was gone. Gave a 30 day warranty on his work. He even checked the slow drain on my bathtub (will fix later). I would use Kyle again and recommend him to others. I was skeptical about thumbtack at first but it all worked out.

I hired AD to replace all my floors with laminate and he was absolutely amazing. He completed the project on time with beautiful results. We ran into some issues where one window, my dishwasher and my clothes washer leaked and black mold was growing. He cut out all the sub floors and properly cleaned and repaired all areas. I even had a specialist come in to give me a second opinion on his methods for handling the mold and he informed me that he was doing exactly what needed to be done to rectify the situation. With all the surprises we ran into he still finished on time. They whole crew and his family are absolutely lovely people to work with. I would definitely hire him for any and all repairs or remodel jobs in the future.

We had Adam replace a washer hookup for us. The hookup was badly corroded and got damaged the night before our new washer and dryer was to be installed so we were an urgent situation. I was able to reschedule the delivery day and Adam was able to start the job very quickly. He had to cut into the sheet rock to replace the pipes. Adam was very professional. He arrived on time everyday and cleaned up before he left each day. The washer hookup was completed quickly, but the sheet rock required him to come back 3 times to complete the process and get it ready to paint. His prices were very reasonable. The washer and dryer had to be installed before he could complete the job and we appreciate him working around them.

I had a variety of jobs, from the basement to the upstairs. JAG Handyman Services showed up on time and completed all the repairs needed. I'm pleased with the results and will use this company again. Jim is trustworthy, thoughtful and will repair instead of replacing if that's the best way to go. He takes time and care with the tasks put before him and offers great customer service.

My house had these long and twisting runs of soft copper suppling the gas to our hot water heater, dryer and stove. I hired Jeff's Plumbing to replace it all in black iron pipe, like it should be. Nice job guys. It's perfect, I don't have to worry, my home is much safer now and up to code, in case I ever want to sell it. Big job, great price, very happy.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

        • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
        • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
        • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

        How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
