I have known Mr. Murphy for a year and a half. He was the children's choir director at my parish. My 8 year old son was a member of the choir. Mr. Murphy got to know him, offered us piano lessons and we agreed. My son enjoys his lessons very much with Mr. Murphy. I like Mr. Murphy because he is an accomplished musician, he is patient and respectful of children and knows how to motivate them to do their best. We are very happy with him teaching our son piano.

I was extremely surprised by M.R. from day 1. As time has passed I've realized more and more just how smart he is. He always has a trick to push me through to the next level of singing. Perhaps more important than that he is insanely fun to work with and just be around. There never seems to be a dull lesson.

Landon is amazing teacher, his technical skill and knowledge are excellent. However, it's his teaching ability that has truly impressed me. I feel that there are many teachers with technical skill and knowledge, but someone who has both of those traits and is able to guide their students to acquire those things through teaching ability is rare. I am very satisfied with the progress I have made in my short time with Landon and I intend to continue my lessons with him as long as I can. My lessons with Landon are without a doubt, the most valuable investment I have made for myself this year.

My daughter, son and myself, all take piano lessons from Ms. Calahan. My daughter was the first one to start piano lessons about 2.5 years ago when she was 9 years old. Ms. Calahan is a great teacher and made things fun but challenging enough for my daughter to make great great advancements in learning the piano. Now my son (8 yrs.old) has started as well and I also started learning the piano as an adult. Ms. Calahan is awesome at working with all ability levels (beginner to advanced) and all ages. She also offers recitals for her voice and piano students (only if you are comfortable in performing though) which have helped my daughter gain confidence in being in front of an audience. The recitals are nice because they are done in a more relaxed/smaller setting.

As a karaoke addict and musical theatre lover, I finally decided I was going to take the plunge into taking singing lessons. I looked around at several options in the St. Louis area, but Shock City was the only place that looked like they knew what they were doing, at a reasonable price. I've been taking lessons for a few weeks now and I'M SO GLAD THAT I CHOSE THEM. From the get-go, Genny was incredibly responsive and thorough in explaining all of my options. I'm a recent college grad that works at a nonprofit, I don't have a ton of money to spend. Genny helped craft a pricing option for me that worked with my budget, and worked with me to find an instructor that was tailored to my specific goals. She led me to find an instructor, Liya, who has been AWESOME. Already on our first meeting, she made me feel comfortable and has brought a fun and playful attitude to our lessons in addition to her vast expertise. They record all of your lessons for you, so that you can review them and practice on your own time, and you can even message your instructor and ask questions through their TeacherZone program. I've already made significant improvements and I'm having a ton of fun! Thanks Shock City for giving me a platform to pursue my dreams!

The Musik Institute is an amazing place! My son takes voice lessons there and has been nothing but excited and impressed. My son also started on the piano with Ms. Chi 8 years ago and was able to stick with it because of her patience and nurturing. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants their child to have a firm understanding and love for music.

About

I'm teaching private in-home piano lessons to students aged 4 through adult. All lessons and plans are prepared weekly on an individual basis for each student. Since I teach the student and not the book, students advance legitimately in a faster pace. Of course, music theory, sight-reading, and composition are included.

About

I have been teaching piano and voice for 10 years. I hold MA in music therapy and BA in music performance and music education. I enjoy teaching students from all ages and lead them to accomplish their goals. I often set up students' recitals, and I also qualify in training students to pass exams from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) every year. I combine well-known techniques in teaching, including Orff, Suzuki, Kodaly and Dalcroze to make sure students acquire strong fundamental theories and skills.
