I am currently an undergraduate student at Yeshiva University, taking Physics II. I was home in St. Louis for a brief period of time when I had the privileged of being tutored by Mr. Zhang. Mr. Zhang is an absolutely brilliant man and a brilliant tutor. I often found myself to be just as knowledgeable as other physics tutors that I have encountered and I often pick up on their mistakes. Furthermore, many other physics tutors take at least half the time figuring out themselves how to do the problem and are just interested in your money. I can honestly attest that Mr. Zhang was like no other tutor I have ever encountered. Firstly, he was extremely sharp and after reading a problem immediately knew how to tackle it. Rather than spending many minutes thinking about how to work the problem Mr. Zhang knew how to approach the question. Furthermore, Mr. Zhang hardly had to look up the equations to use. He had the vast majority memorized, and those that he did not have memorized he simply derived very quickly on the side of the page. Unlike many other tutors Mr. Zhang was not scared of the solution manual. After explaining a problem he would insist on comparing the answer that we obtained to the answer given. It is clearly evident from Mr. Zhang attitude and dealings that he derives pleasure from his students finding his sessions valuable and learning the material and not from taking their money. He genuinely cares and wants to help is students, and this is saying a tremendous amount. Despite Mr. Zhang's truly brilliant intellect (I do not say this lightly, he is a true genius), he is able to simplify concepts and explain his though process in a clear manner that an individual of average intelligence can understand. He furthermore is extremely patient and happy to explain things numerous times. Mr. Zhang is also extremely reliable and returns email with in a few hours. He is also available on his cell phone, and almost always picks up. Overall Mr. Zhang could do anything with his life. It is truly a rare gift to be brilliant enough to understand extremely complicated material, yet also be able to simplify it enough for a person of average intelligence to understand. Thank you Mr. Zhang for all of your help!
My son needed a lot of help with both the SAT and the ACT. Arbor Tutors really came through. Perfect 36 on the math section of the ACT.
We are so happy with the wonderful tutors and service. We would highly recommend this company! It has made a significant impact on my sons success.
Jason is an excellent teacher and is knowledgeable across all subjects. He was able to immediately improve my son's test scores by giving him quick techniques and simple guides to answering test questions. He improved my son's ACT score enough to get him accepted into an Ivy school.
Souradip is a tutor, par excellence! We're grateful to Thumbtack for bringing him into our lives. He's responsive to our children's needs. He's great at explaining and uses various techniques to make sure that they understand the material. Souradip's infinitely patient and never makes them feel less than or embarrassed to ask questions. The children look forward to working with him (now that's a litmus test for a tutor who's doing something right!). They would rather work with him than see a movie! We sought tutoring because our children were struggling and in a matter of a couple of months they're "A" students. That's a testimonial to the caliber of tutor that he is!
I am a certified teacher: k-5 elementary and k-12 special education, learning and behavior disorders. I have worked/volunteered in schools for more than 25 years. I have the knowledge, experience and patience to help students improve their academic skills to help them achieve their full potential in school as well as in their future careers.
I was the supervisor of the largest community education center (Mullanphy) in St. Louis City (now retired). The youth attending the center were primarily 12 to 20 years old. We had a rule that in order to play basketball, you had to have three tutoring hours a week at the center, even if you were an honor student. I managed to get the honor students to tutor their peers if they were interested. I have been coaching students since 1985, from middle school through high school, as well as taught on the adjunct faculty of three community colleges. I like working with students, although my professional career was in business more than education. I have always got along well with youth and find it a worthwhile activity especially now that I am "semi-retired" and have more freedom with my schedule. You need to be consistent not gullible but respectful. What's easy for one person can be Greek to another. People learn differently, and the key is to find the key to each individual.
I tutor any subjects that you may need, including all levels of math, pre-algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, calculus, physics, biology, and chemistry. SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, MCAT, Statistics, ANP, Finance, Accounting.

My tutor was very flexible with his schedule. It was very easy for us to set up a time and date for the tutoring sessions. He was prepared for the sections I told him I needed help with and was great at explaining concepts I disn't understand from my own professor!
