Introduction: Through violin instruction, my goals are to provide the student challenging repertoire, study through etudes and scales, and learn music theory. Through learning challenging repertoire, the students will develop good practice techniques, increase their sight-reading ability, and enjoy being able to make music. Through studying etudes, the students will learn and be able to strengthen their technique on certain bowing styles and in different positions on the fingerboard. Through scales, we can apply certain techniques we have learned in the etudes and work on left and right hand technique while playing relatively easy passages. It is also customary for students to work through music theory books through which they will gain knowledge of note values, music terminology, chords, and scales.
