- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I was twelve years old, I was "debating" an issue with my Mom. She looked at me and said "Kid, you need to be a lawyer." Frankly, at that age, I thought it was great that there was actually a job where I could be paid to argue my position. My Mom's comment led to me exploring exactly what it meant to be a lawyer. It seemed like a good fit, particularly for an opinionated kid like me. The idea just kind of stayed with me. Over time, I also realized that I derived a lot of pleasure from taking care of people or making their lives better. Ultimately, I learned that by becoming a lawyer, I could combine my love of advocacy with my desire to help people.
