Introduction: We install spray-in-place polyurethane foam insulation and foam roof systems. A structure insulated with spray foam typically has half the energy bill over traditional insulation. The initial cost of foam is a fair amount higher than traditional, but the payback amount involved with foam is so high that doing anything else is by far less cost effective. The average-size American home could potentially see a return of literally the $70,000 and up range over 30 years, given the price increase trend for energy in the next 30 years is similar to the past 30, and it will probably be more. Polyurethane foam is used in your refrigerator, deep freezer, coolers, mattresses, chair and couch cushions, car seats—you have been eating off of it, sitting on it, and sleeping on it your whole life (middle-aged and younger people). I am convinced that foam in the cured state is fairly safe; fiberglass is a carcinogen (Google it), and cellulose is toxic waste (check it out also)—a structure with foam has a much healthier indoor environment primarily because of foam's ability to seal. Cellulose actually has more chemicals in it than you could possibly imagine, and that is before we get to the boric acid fire retardant. Now, what do you think happens when the wind blows, an exterior door is opened and closed, an exhaust fan is turned on, or anything that causes pressure change on the building, particles of insulation pass through holes everywhere? You breath these for the life of the building. Unfortunately, it is not usually cost effective to "inject" polyurethane foam into an existing wall, so this needs to be done in the construction phase; however, we can do some things to an existing home. FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Be very cautious of low prices, they usually mean inferior workmanship, and/or possibly product, and less material than you may bargain for. Also, plural componant spray equipment and polyuretane foam are highly specialized and very technical, and quite frankly, most crews do not have personel capable of prosessing and installing this type of product correctly, let alone know what to do if there is a problem, and there is enough involved in applying this stuff, that it is proned to have problems, especially if you don't know exactly what you are doing.
