Dog Training
Jean is wonderful to work with. Our rescue dog is very "reactive" to sounds and sights and during our initial consultation she was already able to guide us into how to slow down his pacing, barking and reactive tendencies. We look forward to more of her guidance in helping our new dog to become a comfortable, happy pup that will enjoy his life with us. Thank you Jean!

Jean is awesome! She is the best trainer we have worked with. We have an awesome but challenging Border Collie pup and in just one session Jean helped us make some really impactful changes. We continue to work with Jean on a regular basis. Stevie is now walking with a loose leash at 7 months better than our last two herding breed dogs ever did. One of the things that impresses us most about Jean is she does not judge us for being frustrated or making mistakes -- she is very understanding, supportive, and realistic. She knows the behavioral science behind dog training (and I think how to work well with humans too!). Our whole family has participated and benefited. Jean provides videos, email support, and is very responsive to questions. We have done our trainings on Zoom which has worked just fine at this time. I highly recommend Jean for dog (and people... :) training!

I've had the pleasure of working with Pawsitive Change Dog Training for two series of 3 private lessons each, with very different dogs and under very different circumstances. Jean was always clear, on point, and great at explaining things by breaking them down into more manageable chunks of practice/experience. She sends out detailed summaries after each lesson. To get the most out of this training, it's best to sign up for it when you have the time to commit to following through on her excellent lessons and insights!
May 13, 2020Pawsitive Change Dog Training's replyThanks for your review! The pictures are so cute! I can’t wait to see how big your puppy grows. Keep up the good work and I know she’ll grow up to be a well-mannered companion!

Jean is a very knowledgeable and skilled dog trainer, and she is great at teaching those skills. She helped us tremendously when we were having some behavioral issues with our two senior dogs. Now we have a new puppy and she is providing guidance with his training. He was potty trained at a very early age due to the method she taught us. It's been especially helpful to be able to do video training sessions with Jean during the pandemic. We highly recommend her services!
May 11, 2020Pawsitive Change Dog Training's replyYou’ve done a wonderful job implementing the training plan and management necessary for your dogs’ needs. I know you’ll continue to see your teenage puppy blossom into a well-mannered dog thanks to your dedication and commitment. It’s been my pleasure to guide you towards this pawsitive change. Keep at it!

Jean has been awesome! We started using her expertise for our two older female dogs, and she was specific, non-judgmental, and extremely helpful during our in home sessions. After we brought a new puppy into our home, we once again called on Jean for help with house training, chewing, and socializing, and she was great. We rely on her expertise, her warmth, and her specificity. During the stay at home order, she graciously offered video sessions, which were extremely helpful. Jean has helped us tremendously, and always sends follow up handouts and invites questions. Thanks Jean!
May 8, 2020Pawsitive Change Dog Training's replyThanks for your kind words. You and your pups have been absolutely delightful to work with. I’m so glad we’ve been able to keep the sessions and progress going despite ‘stay at home’. Keep practicing and most importantly have fun!
FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Pricing is based on packages designed to meet your training goals for your dog. Each plan is personalized to you and your dog. Package types and price ranges are on the website. Start with an Initial Consultation for $55 to learn which package fits your needs.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Clients can always start with an Initial Consultation and this is required for behavior modification (aggression, fear, reactivity, etc.) cases. The Initial Consultation and information you provide at the time of scheduling allows me to recommend the right package for your training goals. The training timeline is designed for you to learn how to communicate with your dog and see real progress with your training games. For puppy training or adult manners training you are not required to do an Initial Consultation (but can if you want to) and the package will be recommended based on history gathered via email/conversation and training goals.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA). This certification is through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers and is one of the leading certification organizations in the USA. To achieve this certification I worked with a mentor, taught group classes and took an exam to demonstrate my knowledge of learning theory, safety, development, and industry standards. To maintain certification I must obtain CEUs (continuing education units) to show my dedication to continuing to learn and grow. I also pledge to abide by certain standards and ethics in training methods and business practices.
