Following a divorce and looking around at my 20+ something home in dire need of a total makeover including color updates, new appliances, lighting, furnishings, repairs, paint, etc., and wanting to express my new found sense of Self, made me seek out an interior designer. After much searching, I hired Blue Lotus Home Design's principle designer, Isabelle Richard. From the initial meeting and going forward, Isabelle was punctual and efficient which worked well with my busy schedule. She was willing to handle the multitude of details involved in a total makeover from design concept beginning with a new color palette, to appliance delivery, retrofitting and painting kitchen cabinets, selecting new lighting, fans, hardware updates, and bathroom remodel. These are some of the processes involved to create an overall inspiring design concept that would bring warmth, and the eclectic -organic feel of the out doors, in. The outcome, although seemingly effortless, was an elegant style, with a simple organic feel of undecorated matching my personal tastes and wants. Her skill set in recognizing my tastes and sourcing furnishings and decor was done with complete efficiency and attentional to detail. She was never intrusive nor did she feel the need to bother me with minimal details. Remarkably, Isa developed a profound understanding of my tastes, style and vision of what I aspired to experience when walking into my home after long hours of work. Walking into my new space felt refreshing, calming, and organically rich and uplifting. During this 6 month project, the entire main floor of my home was completely remodeled and redecorated. The space changed from cluttered and outdated to a contemporary yet open feel in which the natural lighting and expansive picturesque views were maximized. She was always careful to use quality subcontractors including painters and carpenters, and always made sure that they executed their tasks indicated to match her high standards. With her connections and collaboration with local artists, bringing in local talent also added a real Asheville feel to my home. But, most importantly, Isabelle was willing to over see and handle the time consuming details from all decor, furnishings, appliance, deliveries and installation and was always helpful in other ways with decluttering and professionally re-organizing the entire home from the kitchen pantry, sourcing new dish ware/containers for kid's lunches, re organizing kid's rooms, storage closets and the list goes on. The before and after pictures of my home speak volumes and highlight the depth of her design skills. The finished product is the best expression of my tastes, with visual appeal, capturing a sense of soul, and comfort. It feels warm, lived in, and above all, personal. I would highly recommend her services to anyone, and always appreciate her candor, kindness and cheerfulness. Thanks for a job well done Isa. Jason Sprouse, M.D.
Carolyn is a true professional! I found her pricing very reasonable for the value she brings to the job. AND she was extremely responsive! Hiring an interior designer like Carolyn is the smartest thing I've done lately. She insured that the project came off without a hitch and the results are over the top!
Extremeley pleased with the services received... Vendor was punctual, knowledgeable, respectful and prepared. We are very happy with the quality of work and would not second guess calling for additional work to be done in our home! - Tony & Christy Smith Greer, SC
I have been so happy continuing to live with home interior design by Gillian Drummond. She guided me through new room addition decoration as well as several updates in other rooms. Everything from new colors, wallpaper, window treatments and furniture to art work and framing was handled with her expert skill and ease. Gillian has a great talent for turning a house into a cozy retreat to love!
Ashley is very intuitive & creative. She came up with a design plan that I absolutely loved after just one conversation. My project is an interior remodel of my 40 ft travel trailer which is parked in a resort 90 minutes from my home. I put the entire project in Ashleys' very capable hands.
Shawn is great to work with, she is very creative in her designs and works to really use the space to it's full potential for her clients. She is open to ideas and works to collaborate to meet her clients goals. I truly enjoy working with Shawn.
I recently moved to Charlotte NC and down-sized from a 3600 square foot home to a 1600 town-home. I was not able to use any of my furniture since it was all too big for the new space. I had a totally empty canvas but drew a complete blank on what to do. I contacted Stephanie Smith who was kind, patient and most of all listened. We reviewed what the few items I was bringing to my new home which consisted of mostly art and accessories. She got a feel for my style through her excellent listening skills, reviewed her selections with me and did all the space planning. She held my hand through the entire process and was patient and understanding with all my questions. She was also quick to respond which was very refreshing. Her hard work resulted in a space that is exactly me - I could not have done better for myself if I was an interior designer. I am thrilled with my home and I can confidently recommend Stephanie Smith as an expert in her field.
Great experience working with Ginny! She is such a talented interior designer and has been incredibly wonderful to work with. Obviously artistic and experienced and also naturally friendly, makes all this so much fun! I know she has an extensive list of huge design projects on her resume over the years and my project is extremely small compared to those but you would never know it considering the high level of attention, energy and priority she gives me! I'm so excited about the design plan she came up with, it perfectly suits our lifestyle, personal tastes and style of our home. I am thrilled to see everything come together as furniture, rugs, lighting, etc has started to arrive!
Bonnie is great to work with. She has a terrific eye for color and design and will work within your budget. Very strongly recommended!
Jenna Leffew assisted us in choosing curtains and hardware for our living room windows. She had valuable suggestions and helped us choose options. She and her asisstant (her father) came to install the hardware and the drapes. They did a terrific job. The curtains are all that I thought they would be and help make the room much more attractive. Working with Jenna was a very pleasurable experience and I recommend her services.
Essence Design and Interior Decorating helped me do a complete remodel of my kitchen and living room spaces. Amy was a consummate professional throughout the whole process. She presented several alternative ideas, taking into account my goals and preferences and transformed the kitchen space into a very functional work space that wows my visitors when they see it for the first time. The Living Room was transformed into a warm, welcoming space that is tasteful, functional and beautiful. She assisted in everything from color pallet selection, flooring, tile selection, granite countertop selection, plumbing fixtures, lighting, furniture, artwork, window treatments, etc. Amy made sure it all flowed together seamlessly and tastefully. Her fees were reasonable and she was always prompt whenever we had a meeting scheduled. I recommend Essence Design and Interior Decorating enthusiastically to anyone who wants to ensure their project is going to be a success.

We specialize in residential architectural designs, interior designs, and home staging for home sales.
I specialize in all aspects of interior design for new construction or major remodeling, residential, and light commercial projects. I bring to the table attention to detail, superior product knowledge, integrity, and organization. I start the design process with an initial consultation and budget review. Based on the consultation, I develop preliminary estimates and design schemes utilizing drafting and space-planning skills. Next, I coordinate interior finishes, furnishings, and accessories using specifications that can include, but are not limited to: paint and/or wall treatment, lighting, plumbing, floor covering, tile/granite, cabinetry, furniture, upholstery, area rugs, art, bedding, floral arrangements, and custom window coverings. I work directly with the homeowner, builder, architect and/or developer to create a timeless design. My clients can feel confident in my extensive knowledge and experience in all design styles from contemporary, transitional, traditional to eclectic.
My work stands out because I am always willing to take a leap and do something new and interesting when it comes to design. I never back down from a challenge and love that every new job is a way to create something beautiful, functional and memorable for my clients!
I am a nationally published interior designer who works to reflect your taste and to exceed your expectations. So whether it's a simple color consult, a re-design with elements you already have, house staging, or a new house design from the ground up, I can work with you to create space that reflects you and your values while creating an interior that nurtures you, your family and your design aesthetic. I actually call myself a "visual problem solver" in order to minimize so many of the intimidating stereotypes that often come to mind when thinking about interior design. It's really pretty simple. You have a a spacial design "problem" that you need help solving. By engaging me as a design professional, I help you solve those design challenges in ways you might not otherwise have imagined. I am a kind, responsible, and hard working man with over 30 years of designing interiors as well as many of the products used in the industry. You pay only for my time as I encourage you to purchase items directly, minimizing mark ups that many other designers benefit from. I want our experience to be mutually beneficial, so I offer an initial complementary 30-minute consult to see how our personalities fit upon our first meeting one another. Creating personal space is too important to be weighted by issues of incompatibility. Once we agree we are right from one another we then proceed from there. My initial objective is to learn about your personal taste (likes and dislikes), how you want your home to support you, and what your budget will allow. Typically, this is done at an hourly rate competitive with other regional designers. We can work together for as much or as little time as you like. In closing, I look forward to sharing my gifts with you in a way that honors you and your values and results in a unique and distinctive home that feeds your soul. My strength is having the finished space reflect the clients personality...not mine!
My work stands out from others because as a young designer, I am constantly exposed to the newest and greatest innovative ideas in the interior design field. My work reflects a refined, yet worldly perspective that combines the beautiful new trends, while pulling inspiration from the past.
