Glenn was super helpful and attentive to my project. He kept in touch with me throughout the project to update me on progress, ask questions and make sure the job was done to our liking. When the project turned out to be larger than we initially thought, he was willing to find reasonable solutions. I'll use him again.

Glenn was great to work with through my entire project. He patiently discussed and explained options in order to work out a budget. During installation, he took his time to make sure things were done right. His high skill level is clear just by watching him work for a few minutes. Plus he's friendly! Can't recommend him more.

Glenn has done quite a few jobs for me - replaced the rotted floor of a bathroom, which involved replacing some floor joists as well, laying in a tile floor in a hallway, which involved leveling the sub-floor, removal of some walls, installation of a ceiling fan, replacing a sink and more. All of these jobs were located in my multi-use building in downtown Durham - 1st floor is commercial space and second floor is my apartment. Glenn was always on time and cleaned up where he had been working at the end of each day. He is courteous, trustworthy and respectful. The quality of his work is superlative. The one thing that could be improved upon might be that he should provide an estimate of what the cost will be before proceeding. I never asked for one but it might be a good idea to provide one automatically to be sure the client is prepared for the cost of the job.

Glenn Sheffield did some carpentry repairs to my home in Durham. He replaced my front stoop and side poor, and repaired some of the masonry work. I was very pleased with the quality of Glenn's work. Glenn is also a man of great character -- he is very trustworthy. I highly recommend Glenn for your next project!

I worked with Glenn twice. The first time he repaired multiple rotten boards on and painted our garage. The second time he helped prepare our house for sale after we had moved away. He did an excellent job both times and I would work with him again. I was especially impressed with his attention to detail before making a bid as well as the attention to detail during the work. For instance, he found more rotten boards on our garage while working on it, documenting what he found with photos, and then calling me to let me know that the job would take longer and be more expensive than initially thought and asking me if I would like him to continue. I thought this was a professional way to let me know. I also really like Glenn as a person. In addition to doing excellent work, he's a joy to have around. I would hire him again in a heartbeat and recommend him to you without hesitation.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Be sure that when you are posting your need that the scope of work described is entered correctly into Thumbtack’s systems. Some folks are posting needs that take a few hundred dollars to complete and the systems in place are interpreting your needs as costing thousands. This creates high priced leads that can’t be responded to because there is no way to budget for the cost of leads that are projected by the systems to retail out in the thousands but only provide and few hundred dollars worth of income.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

I would advise anyone to look online for websites that detail out the costs for their kind of project if possible. It’s better to over estimate on costs of repairs and budget before posting a need so that pros can keep their costs low for you but not spending resources and time on folks who aren’t ready for the costs of their projects.
