My experience was great!!!!! My house was previously a rental and when I received the key back from the property manager, it had the normal wear and tear of renters. I called Stacy and four weeks later, my house is now a home. Stacy upgraded the house with warm and pleasant colors throughout. She did a fabulous job with my daughters room painting it purple and pink and they love it. She did a fabulous job with the selection of color for my master and my study, now I can't figure out which room I'd rather spend most of my time in. Stacy installed new carpet and an astonishing laminate wood like flooring. Everything thing throughout coordinates from the front door all they way to the final room on the second floor. Most would say she has an eye for design, I'd like to say she has two. All the fine details that she emplaced will probably take me weeks if not months to realize and appreciate. Stacy went above and beyond and I'm very impressed. I will definitely refer her to family, friends and anyone looking to upgrade their home. Thanks Stacy!!!!!

I am a real estate broker and hired Suzanne for real estate photography to show off the unique structure of the property located in Charlotte. What she offered was so much more! She helped me stage the property and edit the current furnishings to help open up the lines of the home. She even provided some of her personal items for staging to help showcase the home and make the photos pop! Her professionalism and passion for what she does really shines through in her work. The staging/ photos she took of the property helped bring a lot of people in to view the home and it went Under Contract in 4 days! I look forward to teaming up with her on future projects.

Carla is an exceptional human being that takes pride in everything that she does. I own an ocean-front vacation home in the Florida keys, she made what was once a messy, disorganized house into a beautiful organized home. I don't worry about her being in my home. She was on time, professional, and stayed as long as she had to without any additional charges. Carla is definitely something special, you won't be disappointed and I will continue using her services and refer her to many of my friends. Last but not least, Carla has a sweet and like-able way about her, there is no doubt that she will do a great job.

Corey has been in the process of transforming our house. Corey brings not only a strong artistic flair, but she also listens well and draws out the common goals for the design work, so we are all playing to the same script. She creates a vision for the house or room and then works hard to make it happen. Our formal piano room looks heavenly now that she painted the ceiling like a sky and added just the right lighting, candles, and accessories. The area rug she picked for our family room transformed the room. The recommendations she made for our screened porch turned it into an extension of the house and a thing of beauty. We are now enjoying parts of our house much more than before because of Corey's work. I strongly recommend Corey Hicks as a very talented, artistic home designer.

I must commend Mr. Cherry for his impeccable sense of style and class, his incredible eye for modern and yet still classic design aesthetic and his professionalism. When I moved into my new home I wanted a contemporary touch, but still wanted the decor to accentuate the architecture of the restored Victorian. Mr. Cherry carefully selected an appropriate color scheme, and even made suggestions for furniture. His attention to detail, and natural eye for what works in a space not only transformed my house into a home, but in my honest opinion, made it into something far more: a work of art! Being an artist myself, I still walk in and am in awe of the fantastic job he has done. If you are looking for someone to completely redecorate your home or simply to revitalize your space, I highly recommend that you go with the best. I was staging a house to sell. Professional Home Staging & Design came in and did the rooms I wanted staged. Everything went very well. They were friendly and flexible since I still had a few contractors working on the house as well. The home looked great when they left.

It was a pleasure to work with Phizzy. She was creative, professional, easy to communicate with, while remaining affordable. We got far more than we expected from our consultation, and the house has never looked better. Phizzy was able to use our own art and accessories to minimize the amount we would need to purchase new. Her suggestions were thoughtful and respectful of our own personal style. She jumped right in and helped move furniture, hang art, arrange books and offered her own time to search for staging furniture. I would highly recommend her.

I have been working with Barbara exclusively as the 'go to Stager' for my listings for many years. Barbara's professional skills are top notch from the initial visit to the actual staging. She is able to successfully present my listings with perfect staging - so much so that many sellers are in disbelief that it is their same home! Many sellers are very stressed about the staging process and Barbara is able to keep my client's stress at a minimum. I am especially grateful that she is so kind to my clients and they like her so much that it makes my job a lot easier. The final outcome from using her as a stager is that my listings sell quickly and for the highest price possible. Choose a stager that will save you time and aggravation as an agent and hire Barbara. She will deliver every time!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does it mean to stage a home?

Home staging is the real estate strategy of decorating your home to be as marketable as possible to your target demographic. Home staging is done by interior decorators and other design pros hired by the homeowner or realtor, prior to putting a house on the market. Think of it as setting the stage for potential buyers to fall more easily in love with their future homes — and to spend top dollar to get them. It’s likely to be worth the investment: The Real Estate Staging Association reports that staged homes spend 90 percent less time on the market than those that are not staged. Home stagers can also be hired even if you’re not going anywhere. Stagers can consult on new layouts for your current home, much like an interior decorator.

Home staging can take place while you still occupy the house you plan to sell, or when the home is vacant. For an occupied home, the home stager will clear out clutter, rearrange furniture, and bring in decor and furniture as needed to create the perfect environment. Usually an occupied home has far too much of the current owner’s personality stamped on it, which makes it hard for prospective buyers to envision themselves living there. A home stager should neutralize and beautify the space. In vacant homes, a home stager will bring in furniture and decor so that potential buyers don’t walk into an empty house, which can be equally hard to imagine living in as a cluttered, occupied home.

How much does it cost to stage a home for sale?

Nationally, the price for home staging ranges between $750 and $1,500. The price varies based on how many rooms in the house need staging, whether furniture and decor are needed or the stager can work with the client’s belongings, whether the home is occupied or vacant, and the sale price of the home. Occupied homes typically cost less to stage as they are already furnished, and can require less time and resources than staging an empty house. The main tasks when staging an occupied home are rearranging and decluttering. Staging an empty house can be more expensive as furniture and decor need to be trucked in, requiring transportation, physical labor and potential rental fees. Here are some examples of average home staging costs:

      • 2-hour consultation: $200, includes DIY tips and guidance.
      • 1- to 2-hour consultation and design session: $250, including written report.
        • Additional design consulting: $65 per hour.
      • 8 hours of staging an occupied home: $800.
        • Hands-on staging involving moving furniture, hanging and moving art, and decluttering.
      • Starting price for staging a vacant home could be $2,200.
      • A home stager may charge 1 percent of the home’s selling price.
