Ron installed a ceiling fan and 3 light fixtures. He and his apprentice were extremely polite and efficient. Through no fault of Ron's, the ceiling fan I purchased had an extremely noisy motor. I had him uninstall and will have him install the next fan when it arrives.

I needed the refrigerator to cool as well as the freezer did. Turns out I needed two parts replaced. Mr. Chacaltana was on time, he was respectful, and he was knowledgeable about the task he needed to complete. He completed the work in a timely manner and cleaned up after the task was done. I highly recommend his services and plan to use him again if I ever need another appliance repaired.

Manny arrived early - very courteous - very knowledgeable- completed the repair of my electrical connection to my hot water heater quickly & in a very professional manner. Stayed to make sure I gad hot water - spoke with my plumber to trouble shoot any additional problems that may have popped up. His quote for services rendered were very reasonable - compared to several other electricians I had contacted. His flexibility to come on weekends is a big convenience for all. I would highly recommend Manny to anyone as electrician of choice.

Tony was honest and fair - Although my AC couldn't be repaired, he walked me through everything he replaced in an effort to fix it. I would hire him again for HVAC repairs.

Not the cheapest however one of the best professionals I have had the opportunity to work with. Worth every penny. Mr. Leroy came in and was able to easily figure out how to install the new dishwasher in my home.....We have an older home. The previous installer came in and spent one hour trying to figure out where shut off the water to no avail. Not Mr. Leroy, it took him maybe five minutes....

Nick did an excellent job on our mini kitchen upgrade. He installed a floating LVP flooring over a previous horrible ceramic tile, changed a lighting fixture, re-installed our dishwasher and fixed our refrigerator water line. (we now have ice! YAY!) This is our first home and he's an excellent source of information and expertise! Will definitely be calling him for future reno projects.

Paul and his helper were great. I hired them to install a dishwasher. They showed up promptly, communicated about everything they were doing, and even moved my old appliance out and listed it on Craigslist for me. Over and above - I will hire them again for all my handyman needs. Thanks, guys!

After being jerked around by Sears on my washer install, I got an immediate response from Right Hand Handymen. I explained the situation, he said he could resolve my issue. He showed up on time, came up with work around for obstacles that came up. He and his son completed the install within the estimated time frame. Everything works as it should. I will rehire when needed.

Probably the best plumbing service EVER! They got there within the time window promised, found the problem right away, made the repair, and cleaned up afterwards. The techs were polite and personable. Best of all, they didn't charge me an arm and a leg! Will definitely use them EVERY time!

Johnathan was awesome! Right on time.....went above and beyond to repair my electrical needs, move outlets and install a new bathroom vanity light. Too boot, he’s incredibly personable...we shared a few laughs a long the way. I would definitely recommend him for any electrical needs. I’ll be hiring him again in a week or two to replace my kitchen and dining room lighting fixtures. Thank you Johnathan!!!!

Although I ended up not needing them, I'm giving them 5 stars anyway! I mentioned in my message that I'd only been in the house for five months, and Wayne suggested I check my home warranty first to see if my ailing HVAC was covered. It was, indeed, and so he saved me some $$. I really really appreciated his honesty, and if I need HVAC repair in the future, I will call them first!

Dishwasher installation. He installed properly, though I did have to replace a screw that caused the top to scrub a bit after he left. I just found screw with flatter head. Balanced out because he helped to repair a bath faucet at no charge. Great guy!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
