I had very specific needs yesterday. Since I have severe back problems that limit my mobility, mopping my hardwood floors is a struggle. I have to host a business meeting at my house this Saturday. I asked very specifically to have my floors mopped, my full and half bath cleaned, dusting and vacuuming the loft and family rooms only. I had no cleaning done in the office, bedrooms, or master bathroom. She showed up 45 minutes after our promised time. She advertised a cleaning crew of 3 people. Two showed up. She didn't come with a mop. So, she sent the other person to get one. That took 45 minutes. So, I had one person cleaning for the first 45 minutes. She moved slower than me and I get around with forearm crutches! The other person, bless her, kept apologizing. You could see the embarrassment on her face over the whole situation. She did a good job and worked hard and as fast as she could. I let them know when I set the appointment that I had to leave my house by 12:30pm for a meeting. It got to 12 (two hours into cleaning, I don't even know what, other than the bathroom upstairs) before I told them that the most important thing I needed cleaned was the hardwood floors. She took over 45 minutes to mop them! I literally sat on the staircase with her check just waiting for her to LEAVE. She finally left my house at 3 minutes until 1pm. I was late for my meeting, I had no time to check to see if the work she did was even decent, and I locked up and left with the broom by the front door so I didn't put tracks through the mopping. When I got home, the hardwoods were all streaked. It was awful looking. I grabbed a bucket of nothing but hot water, got on my hands and knees, and wiped away the streaks that way. It took me 30 minutes and my hardwoods were shining. My back is hurting so badly today. What should have taken no longer than 2 hours for a 2 person crew to accomplish, she couldn't get done right in 3 hours. I could have paid $125 and gotten my WHOLE HOUSE CLEANED. I chose the hourly rate because I didn't need my whole house cleaned. This was an awful experience. She was not professional at all. Her daughter worked well and was very kind. I have no complaints about her work. But the lady in charge, if someone moves that slowly, they need to charge based on the work, not by the hour. Not a bargain at all. I find this statement to be very disrespectful and hurtful. Her house was poorly maintained. The bathrooms had black mole and the toilets were black. The client never moved from her computer. Her half bath was so bad it did take 45 minutes bc I was cleaning the black dirt off the doors and crown molding. She said she was having a important meeting so I was doing extra work for her that she did not pay for. I asked her to check her house before we left before I took any dime. I have cleaned for ten years and take pride in my work. If she was truly this unhappy I would have come back to please her before I took any money from her. I am a very honest woman and I have cleaned for many years so I could put my two children through college. I would never mislead or disrespect anyone in this way.
