Q. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A. Reiki treatment sessions are customized to your needs; however a complete traditional Usui Reiki treatment is the foundation of each session. A session typically starts with you lying on your back, fully clothed, on a luxurious treatment table, with support and adjustments made as needed to ensure your comfort. The practitioner will lightly rest their hands on or above areas of your head and torso directing healing energy to promote relaxation and to bolster your body's natural capacity to heal.
Some people experience Reiki as warmth, others as hot energy, and some feel sensations of energy movement in the limbs or through the body. Overall Reiki is most often experienced as deep relaxation and lightness. This relaxation may be accompanied by a release of physical and emotional stress, followed by renewed energy. Reiki adjusts to the needs of the recipient and is safe to utilize daily.
Nancy will also customize a stress management program for your needs. She utilizes, Reiki, yoga, TRE®, mediation and relaxation techniques to promote health and wellness in adults, children and animals.
Q. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Nancy is also a Certified Integrative Yoga Therapy Teacher (RYT500), with advanced training in Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TSY®); a Certified ChildLight® Yoga Instructor; a Certified Meditation Teacher; a trained SoulCollage® Facilitator; a Certified TRE® (Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises) Provider; a nationally certified Personal Trainer with advanced training in Mind-Body Wellness; and has a Masters degree in Sports Science (MSS).

Q. How did you get started doing this type of work?
A. I was introduced to Reiki as a young girl. My mother had received training in Reiki first and second degree; and I remember feeling very intrigued and receptive of it. Something about Reiki seemed so natural to me - like I had always known about it and was being given a reminder. When I reached my early 20's I began to feel a strong calling to become a practitioner myself and to bring the practice more fully into my own life. Thus began my training and relationship with Reiki, that will continue to grow and develop for the rest of my life.
It's an honor and a blessing to have had Reiki in my life for over 30 years; and I consider it a privilege to share Reiki with all who come to me.
I was also introduced to Yoga and Mediation at a very young age and developed a consistent practice of self-growth and development, which has been instrumental in my ability to navigate the inevitable challenges that life has presented to me over the years.
Q. What types of customers have you worked with?
A. I work with adults, children and animals. People come to me for a variety of reasons. Some for general wellness, balancing, and growth. Others come to me for support with the healing process from illness, injury, and grief/loss. I also routinely support people coping with anxiety, depression and trauma recovery.
Q. Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
A. A Reiki Life Academy is conducting a research project on the energy practice of Reiki and its correlation with improved health and well-being. This study focuses more specifically on stress, anxiety, and depression.
Nancy Bunt has been working professionally in Reiki for over 20 years and has helped countless individuals incorporate Reiki into their self-care regime to lower stress levels and to better cope with the chronic effects of stress, anxiety and depression. As a result, it has become very clear to her that she needed to start recording and documenting in a more comprehensive way what is actually taking place within people receiving Reiki treatment.
We are very excited about this project!
Q. What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
A. As Reiki is an unregulated practice (there is no certification or licensing board that oversees the practice of Reiki) it is important to ask questions of the practitioner to ensure you are with a qualified practitioner that is a good fit for your needs:
* Has the practitioner been trained over a period of time?
* How long were the practitioner's training classes?
* What level of training do they have?
* If they have taken more than one level of training, ask if the practitioner trained in
each level separately. If so how far apart were the classes?
* Does the practitioner practice daily Reiki self-treatment?
* How much experience do they have giving Reiki treatment to other people?
* How does the practitioner describe Reiki and a treatment?
* Ask if the practitioner includes practices other than Reiki in their sessions and specify
if you want Reiki only.
